First I have to say that all the glowing reviews that I had read about this hotel before booking turned out to be spot on. The hotel is well located in the old historic centre meaning that delicious food is aplenty wherever you look. The bus from the airport stops a short distance away. However we didn't get to try it as it was not much more expensive using Uber or Grab. The very popular Gaya Street Sunday market is practically at its doorstep and if you desire, you can even view the daily night market right below your window.. The taxi stand and the stops for local and regional minibuses/buses are all within walking distance. However it may be a good idea to hire a car if you plan to go long distances to say Mount Kinabalu and the like. For us, it was a case of 'been there, done that' so we were quite happy to take a pleasant train ride to Beaufort and to wander around KK on foot. The hotel is family-owned and it shows in the cleanliness and thoughtful details that come with the room and the running of the hotel. The Hii family members are excellent hosts and are always ready to help. They will make you feel like honoured guests. If you book through Traveloka it's easy and you can get some pretty good discounts though the regular price is already well within even a backpacker's budget. So if you're planning to go over to KK don't waste your time checking into some soulless generic hotel. Take this opportunity. to interact with this pleasant Hii family and let them show you some genuine East Malaysian hospitality!
