I’ve stayed a few times, I would normally highly rate the food and staff, unfortunately this time was slightly below the normal standard they provide. The rooms are functional and the standard of cleanliness is very high, I would suggest they need to upgrade the TV,s they are small and very underwhelming. Would I go back? Yes

A lovely hotel run by lovely staff. We were in the apartment which was fully kitted out and a pleasant place to spend the night. Didn't have tea there, but came back for some delicious puddings, and breakfast was tasty and filling. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel, and plan to return. Excellent value for money.

Great food, helpful staff, lovely location.

Very friendly and attentive staff . Disappointed the restaurant was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays as it has a very good reputation but then even chefs need time off . Breakfast was very good , id say the best black pudding in the north east

Friendly Staff

Incredibly friendly staff and a great location in a fun town. Despite being located above a pub, the sound insulation must have been excellent because it was perfectly quiet in the evening and night. The rooms felt a little dated but were entirely clean and the bed was comfortable. Probably unfair to rate it a 4/5 when the price was so very reasonable. A 5 would only have been possible at something perhaps twice as pricey per night. Would gladly stay here again.

Spacious apartment for 4, cozy living room, well-equipped, great location, nice people. Should have stayed more than a night to explore the area better.

Nice hotel, good food, no complaints

The hotel is an old inn in Johnshaven, a fishing village at least 10 miles outside of Montrose, in Aberdeenshire not Angus. Lovely setting near the harbour. The family room had a double bed and two single beds in a separate section. Shower room was small but well maintained. A small heater kept the room warm which was good because the weather was terrible on the first day. The bar/ dining area was lovely, the staff were all super and the food was excellent. Seafood was a speciality although there was a wide choice of dishes. People obviously came from all round to eat there and there was a lively atmosphere. We would certainly go back.

Was a excellent stay! Quaint and quiet. Loved the area and the bar/restaurant on site was cozy with good food. Room was very clean.

Nos dieron un apartamento muy cómodo, con un salon muy amplio y acogedor y una cocina amplia y equipada con todo lo necesario. TV con netflix. Camas comodas. Lo único, que el baño necesita una reforma, pero aún así, estaba muy limpio. Es un apartamento en un pueblo pesquero pequeñito pero encantador.

Loved the location and the friendly people in the area

This is a gem of a hotel, staff are so attentive and friendly, room was comfy and cosy. The food is up there with any top notch restaurant, especially if you like seafood! Great selection of beers, gins, whisky, wine as well. All in all a perfect 10 out of 10!

Excellent welcome

Stayed one night. Room we had was small but for one night was ok, the room was clean but bathroom could do with an upgrade. No soundproofing, could hear everything through the wall. Breakfast was an extra £12.50 each was a fine breakfast. We had dinner in the restaurant, lots of choices, great fish and seafoods selection and what we had was lovely. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. We had great service.

Very good value for money. Food was fantastic and the staff all very friendly. En-suite was a bit dated, but fully functional. Would definitely stay here again.
