Stayed at the Queens on a recent road trip through Devon and Cornwall. We arrived at 7pm and found the car park was full as a coach trip was in and the coach took up a few spaces. There is however on street parking opposite the hotel, which turned out to be fine.
Check in staff were very welcoming and efficient, getting us checked in very quickly. We had a small room which was clean and tidy but would benefit from a decor refresh. Bed was comfortable (especially after a reasonably priced glass of wine from the bar) and we were in a quiet part of the hotel, even with the coach party in we were not disturbed.
There was evening entertainment on in the large bar area with a singer and bingo, not to our taste but there was a pool table in a separate area which was great.
Breakfast was all you can eat, very well stocked with a good variety of continental / cold choices and all the components of a full English breakfast which were fresh, hot and tasty. With the coach trip in, breakfast was very busy, but the staff kept everything moving and the food topped up.
Hotel is well located for local amenities, and the pier was a short walk away.
Overall hotel was great for a short break and was very reasonably priced for a bed and breakfast stay. They do seem to cater for a clientele of a certain age with the coach tours, so for us we would probably look elsewhere for another trip to Paignton but no reflection on the service we received which was good.
