場所が少し不便な所にあり、しかも急な坂道を登らないといけないのが少し不便だった。延泊し2泊したが1泊目の部屋が暖房が効いておらず寒かった。2泊目の部屋は暖かった。建物の外観、部屋の雰囲気はとても良かった。またお風呂は広く快適だった。朝食は数種類から選べ、2種類食べたがどちらも美味しかった。パンとサーモンが美味しい。 夜はホテルに併設しているインド料理を食べたが、宿泊者は割引があり、味も美味しかった。 ダラムに着いて初めての宿泊先、食事だったが、こちらのホテルのおかげで、ダラムの印象が良いものとなった。

We had a lovely stay over the Durham Regatta weekend. Perfect for our needs, Big comfy room and tremendous breakfast. Free parking. Top notch.

Friendly staff, good free parking on the hotel grounds. Good location. Beautiful, old building, but that’s also the issue. We could here people walking on the floor above us. The bathroom is clean and nice but they forgot to place shower curtain, so was impossible to shower without water being everywhere. Wish these parts were better maintained. Somewhat tired building/facilities, but we only stayed overnight, so that’s ok. Breakfast is rather plain but staff is super friendly.

Farnley Tower is a very attractive building in a lovely location, easily walkable (but be aware that Durham is VERY hilly) to and from the city centre, the cathedral, and the castle/university campus. I’ll say up front that we are somewhat more critical than most because we travel full time. This stay was the second-last in 5 months of continuous travel, and we’d had many, many excellent stays against which to compare it. Our first impression was that Farnley was lovely, but unloved. The manager, Anna, who is fabulous, and a fount of information about the area, quickly dispelled that notion. She and her staff responded to every single one of our concerns quickly and patiently, and resolved those that they could. Scratchy linen sheets (in what we learned was a hypoallergenic pet-free room)? Changed for smooth cotton. Way too few electrical outlets? Power bar supplied. Filthy portable fan (needed on hot nights with no AC)? Immediately taken away and cleaned. Breakfasts were good, with yogurt, cereal, oranges, apples, and juices self-serve, and hot options customizable and cooked to order. Anna had lots of gluten-free and dairy-free options for those who need or prefer that. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the bathroom, and the bathroom fittings were modern. The independently owned on-site Indian restaurant Holi & Bhang is outstanding. I don’t think it’s a 10/10, but a solid 9/10 is deserved.

This was a beautiful place to stay. The rooms were tastefully appointed, the staff welcoming and attentive, and the location and parking were perfect for a quiet, peaceful stay while still being close enough to the heart of Durham to be accessible. We would stay there again!

Our recent overnight stay at Farnley guesthouse, from check in to check out everything was perfect. Friendly staff, very clean, room spacious and modern, breakfast beautiful and service was great. Will definitely be returning 😊

The property has character with an Indian restaurant attached. There is an Italian restaurant a few blocks away. City centre is a 20 minute walk down hill. Free parking. Helpful staff and a great breakfast.

A great room, with a spacious bathroom which was clean and well maintained. A fantastic breakfast in the morning with a full English alongside cereal etc. great value. The guest house is located in a nice convenient area.

Lovely hotel. Really nice welcome on arrival room was ready before check-in. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing, the staff were in hand took orders quickly and food arrived in good time.

A very warm welcome on arrival, with a clear explanation given of things that we needed to know. Help offered with bags and an escort given to our more than pleasant booked room (Cathedral View). Facilities in room all that one might require, and with a comfortable bed. Very tasty breakfast options available from 07:30 am with a range of beverages. An easy check out procedure on departure. One thing that has to be said is that my partner and I found the room somewhat over warm through the night, despite the fact that we had turned off the radiator. A reason that occurred to us was that with the room being at the top of the property, perhaps it was a case of all the heat from below rising. Overall though, very highly recommended.

Lovely warm welcome and the room was warm and comfortable as well. Really friendly people and breakfast was delicious. We had dinner at the Holi and Bhang restaurant next door which was also great and good value.

Everything was as it should be: helpful staff, easy check in, generous breakfast, clean and comfortable room.
