We really enjoyed our stay in Chiang Mai. Honestly, I felt disappointed with the lack of amenities, because I had just spent a week in Bangkok at a super luxurious hotel. So, when I could not even get access to use a microwave oven, it was a big let down. The staff set up several tours for my Wife and I and they were mostly very nice. I was annoyed on the rare occasion that we asked the hotel shuttle to drop us off somewhere, and they said that "it was too far", or gave some other excuse. On our final day, we had a taxi waiting to take us to the airport, but we could not leave until the man from the front desk inspected our room. I have never experienced that before. Heck, they have my Amex Gold Card number, they could easily bill me for whaterver they think that I had stolen.
