One of our party left with bites all up his arm and over his back, assuming this was bed bugs

Nice room, tea and coffee offerings good. The security lock on the window in our room needed to be fixed. Room was good for an overnight stay.

Room was ok had a steak in the restaurant on the first night and had to ask for a steak knife as was not given one, on the second night i asked for lamb shank but they did not have any so i then asked for rack of ribs but then got told it would be a wait of 2 hours before they could cook them so had to have chicken as thats all they had.

Great place great facilitys lovely staff and amazing food

Only good thing about the stay was Cem our waiter for the evening meal, who went the extra mile thank you. Go elsewhere for anything else. ☹️☹️

Very disappointed with room as there was a terrible smell of the drains coming from the bathroom. The breakfast is a joke as it starts very late at 8.30 am. We went in at 8.30 and were the only people in. The cooked breakfast eventually arrived at 9.30am! There were no other options i.e cereal or fruit. The hot beverages were charged as extras to the breakfast! We won't be going back!

The room was comfortable with an en-suite shower room and toiletries. When we arrived the lady on reception was ok but not overly welcoming. We were shown up to our room and that was fine. We went to the toilet and the flush wouldn’t work. We told reception and then went out. By the time we got back the flush had been fixed and we had no more problems with it at all.

Booked 2 rooms, we have been last 2 years in December to this hotel, so decided to take friends to show them what a brilliant hotel and restaurant it is. Bad move,booked in for 7.30pm meal. Asked what meats for carvery, Pork,lamb and beef was the reply. Ordered 3 carvery, 1 liver & bacon. Liver dish came out and we were told to go to carvery, only 2 little pieces of lamb left to divide between 3 of us or a pie, which we didn't want but 1 person had to have it. Chef told us waitress should have checked with him. We were offered alternative, but too late as 1 meal had already been taken to the table, Given complimentary sweets, eton mess had no merigue,toffee apple crumble had no crumble and cold custard, rice pudding was long grain rice not pudding rice. Dreadful. Room 5 shower was cold and big dirty crack in wash basin. At checkout another chef apologised, said he had told staff to put joints away and save for Sunday, and as we were late eating, not alot of meat left for us. I do not consider 7.30pm on a Saturday night as a late booking and it had been booked in for 3 months... At no point during check in or during our time in the restaurant or bar did anybody mention breakfast, as it says to speak with hotel on arrival, when you book the rooms, so no breakfast. Check out was 10am on a Sunday morning. Don' t think we will return and our friends would not recommend to their family or friends.

We stayed just one night, the room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom for room 1 is not heated and we stayed on a very cold night, so not ideal.

Staff very friendly and location good for cathedral

Lovely stay, staff so friendly and helpful. Only 1 issue was the window with no blinds so in the mmorning was very light. Overall lovely, comfortable stay though.

The place was very dated and run down. The worst thing was the smell of drains and damp - particularly in rooms 1 and 2. The door handles all need replacing. The lock broke on room 1 which meant a move to room 5, where the internal handle came off when you tried to get out ( surely a danger if there was a fire?) The windows in all rooms were filthy and the drinking glasses provided not much better! All of these issues were pointed out to the manager who agreed this was totally unacceptable. In his defence it appears that he has asked the management company to authorise the repairs needed but they refuse. My recommendation is to find another place to stay.

Comfortable but smallish clean room with 4' 6" comfortable double bed. Tea/ coffee making facilities and ironing board, iron, hair dryer, luggage rack, bed side lamp/table only on one side of bed. Clean bathroom, needs extra hooks/towel rail in bathroom. TV Freeview only. Downside very poor hotel wifi reception. Easy walk to Cathedral etc. (all bedrooms upstairs, so not suitable for disabled travellers.)

Ich wollte ursprünglich in Cambridge übernachten und stiess per Zufall auf the High Flyer in Ely. Das Profilbild mit dem Alice im Wunderland-Thema sprach mich an. Zum Glück entschied ich mich um. Es war super. Das Zimmer mit Bad und Dusche ist gross und das Bett sehr bequem. Es hat viel Tee, Kaffee und Kekse zur Verfügung und der TV ist riesig. Es hat genügend Abstellfläche. Zum Hotel gehört ein Pub und eine Teestube. Ich habe an beiden Abenden dort gegessen und es war immer sehr lecker und das Personal sehr freundlich. Das ganze Haus ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und dekoriert. Beim Roomservice wurde alles super aufgefüllt und respektiert, dass ich die Frotteewäsche aufgehängt und nochmals brauchen wollte. Das Hotel ist zu Fuss vom Bahnhof Ely in ca 20 Minuten erreichbar. Das Stadtzentrum mit der wunderschönen Kathedrale ist in 5 Minuten erreichbar. Ely war absolut ein Besuch wert. Es ist ein schönes Städtchen und das Übernachten im the High Flyer kann ich sehr empfehlen.

We had a great stay at the high flyer, we had an evening meal at the hotel with great service and huge meals which were delicious. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and considerate

My first experience was the late carvery lunch which was not very good but I thought that the food had been to long on display, and it was overcooked and dry. However I had the full English breakfast the next morning and it also was overcooked, perhaps the chef was suffering from a hangover and left the poached eggs to long so that they were hard and the mushroom was very black instead of being brown also the has browns and as for the bacon this was nuked beyond dry, while the sourdough bread tasted like wet Mothers Pride white single slice cut in half and called two slices for the sake of the menu. I stopped eating at the hotel. The service in the restaurant was desultory at best and poor perhaps they had been on duty to long. The room was comfortable but serviced only occasionally. The location was reasonably close to the main tourist sights and restaurants/bars which I used for my stay in Ely.

Lovely stay in central Ely . Easy going fab and will happily return when visiting friends .
