As regular customers of Dakota Leeds, Manchester and Edinburgh we had been looking forward to staying at Dakota Newcastle to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately the room we booked didn’t live up to expectations with flat lumpy pillows and a broken curtain that wouldn’t close fully, letting light into the room from 6.40am which woke us up early and meant we didn’t get the relaxing lie in we had hoped for whilst away. Staff were polite and the breakfast was tasty, but bowls and plates were slow to be cleared despite us being the only people in there. Overall we felt it was a bit disappointing as a first stay in a relatively new 5* hotel and improvements are needed if Dakota Newcastle wants to meet the standards of Dakota Leeds, Manchester and Edinburgh who we feel have been consistently excellent. Other reviews also mention being upgraded, however this is not something we were offered although we had mentioned it was our anniversary and they had availability.
