Excellent customer service, stunning views, and a beautiful hillside setting overlooking the Danube. The hotel's location and surrounding topography make for a memorable stay. One important tip for travelers arriving from Budapest by train: make sure to arrive before 8:00 PM if you need to use the ferry, as ferry service stops at that time. If you miss the last ferry, you won't be able to cross the Danube and may end up stranded on the opposite side. The nearest bridge crossing requires a significant detour, either back toward Budapest or through Slovakia. Planning your arrival accordingly will save you a lot of time and hassle.

The hotel gives a veneer of being very prestigious, however the curtains were not large enough, so no matter how hard I tried they did not keep out enough of the light: from the hotel’s own street lights. The half board food was not very good, and I was treated like a nuisance for wanting to eat towards the end of the restaurant opening time. I was told at reception on arrival that I could swap my evening meal for a lunch, but when I did that, even after saying so I was still given the al la carte menu, and they tried charging me for the al la carte food. I had to argue on departure. The breakfast included some of the most disgusting porridge I have ever eaten. The water for making tea was not warm enough and there was hardly anything for a vegan (despite reassurance in advance I would be catered for). Some equipment broke down, leaving me with a frustrating wait. All told, don’t expect anything close to the “superior” hotel they publicise. In advance, I imagined I would return when I had more time to enjoy the stay. I won’t.
