I have stayed at this hotel for more than twenty years and have always been satisfied with the hotel and staff. However, last week there was an issue concerning payment, I paid prior to arrival. The trainee was ok even though there was a disagreement. The duty manager intervened and made matters significantly worse, tell me in effect that I was an idiot and was rude and totally lacking in customer service. He did not care if I rebooked for further stays or not. This is the first time I have been treated like that at the Britannia

Very lovely stay,lovely staff but rushed off their feet so lacking the personal touches. Area around the hotel very unsafe for me as I felt I was being watched by homeless people in and around the hotel. I have stayed most years in the Britannia hotel around this time. I don't think I would return due to the reasons outlined.

I had no problem with my stay, the room was clean, shower was powerful, and it had a TV. Bed wasn't the comfiest and the room was basic and tired. BUT for £45 a night in the centre of Manchester on a Friday, it did me nicely thank you very much!

Security policy does not work! Hotel is not updated enough to allow entry to the lift via key fobs. Security on the doors would not allow people in without a key fob and confirming the name on the hotel booking. The hotel had not allocated individual names to the room list despite taking copies of ID. When staying as a couple only one key fob was taken and they would not allow us back into the room unless ID was shown and 2 key fobs. This made a terrible experience and caused lots of violence with other guests who were experiencing frustration and inconsistency with security.

It was very close to where I went to work

Great spot for people on a budget. Being from Australia, no air conditioning hurts, but there is a fan in the room which helps. Great central location.

Ved tjek-in var en meget arrogant receptionist, der ved spørgsmål virkede overlegen og ikke imødekommende - “its just business”, var hans svar på alt. Værelset lugtede af en blanding af skimmelsvamp, fugt og kattetis. Ved henvendelse i receptionen gik medarbejderen med op og konstaterede at der lugtede lidt fugtigt. Vi fik udleveret en air-freshener, som selvfølgelig ikke kunne fjerne lugten. Grundet travlhed kunne de først tilbyde nyt værelse dagen efter. Det nye værelse var ok. Morgenmaden lignede noget der kunne serveres i et fængsel: uappetitlig anrettet og smagsløst og bar præg af masse produktion. Dette selvom udvalget var utrolig lille. Hotellet er virkelig ikke pengene værd! Eneste gode ved dette hotel, er placeringen.

The room condition was poor, the celling fan is broken.

Bodd på hotellet et par ganger, og det funker. Billig og midt i sentrum. Ok seng og bad. For en rimelig natt så vil jeg anbefale dette hotellet Sto 45min i kø for å sjekke inn, og køen var lengre 2 timer senere. De har satt opp bånd for kø ved innsjekk, så tydeligvis vanlig. Svakt at man ikke kan bemanne opp.

Good overall and excellent location

It was ok not as bad as some of the previous reviews have said room was ok bit sparce but ok shower could do with an update but it worked and cleaners check under bed otjer than that ok

Staff were very friendly and helpful

Have stayed in this hotel before usually because it’s cheaper than most on a weekend but man, it’s run down. This time my room was ok, better than usual but it has seen better days. The outside looks amazing but inside is like a throw back to the 1970s.

Got to the property and was told we would be staying in a room with no windows, the room was unkempt with deep chips into the walls and weird brown stains on the walls above the headboards.

Inexpensive and good location.
