Here, I feel like staying in a rural American farmhouse with no nearby farmhouses around. If you are sick of staying in a hotel or a motel, consider staying here. The people here are very friendly and will feel like family or friends. It was so kind, we forgot leaving the tip. Small rooms are available at an affordable price. However, because of Expedia, an intermediary company, I was not happy because it charged us too much for the cost of our accommodation. I used Expedia long time ago, but I'm not going to use Expedia in the future. At night there is no light around here and it can be hard to find. I recommend you to go there in the daytime. It is not difficult to go to Death Valley from here. The owner will guide you kindly. This visit there was a new, unexpected and enjoyable experience.

Honestly my first experience at a Bed & Breakfast and it set the bar hi. Jennifer was so nice and Breakfast was soo good!

Amazing experience! Awesome bed and breakfast with rich history tucked away just outside of Death Valley. Owners were so kind and interacted with us and other guests like old friends, and we all felt like it.

The pool was dirty. I was attacked by the goat. The facilities were not at all like we were led to believe.

Paul was very attentive to us and has such an easy way about him. He made our stay very easy. The property also had lots of peacocks that made it unique. At first I was intimidated but they were actually quite docile. The place was also very quiet which was a nice way to end a day of exploring at Death Valley.

Jennifer was amazing. Cool Lil spot. Excellent star gazing opportunity. Breakfast was awesome and well balanced. Ate with some other guests. Just an overall great experience. Not to mention the peacocks talking to us in the morning

A unique oasis in the nevada desert, with more peacocks than i could count. Very gracious hosts, friendly and sensitive to our needs. No restaurant for miles, so have dinner first or bring it with you. Very pet friendly.

We left without staying the night. Not at all what we expected. Room too small. Everything smelled like dogs.

Charming Venue with a story to go with it! Enjoyed time conversing with staff (and their pets!) Glad breakfast is included, as there is nothing (seriously) around for MILES. If you like peacocks, this is your place!

It was very interesting. We were immediately greeted by the owners and the fellow travellers, who were all hanging out, outside.

Be aware - this used to be a brothel. It isn't anymore. The people who run it now are very nice. They have peacocks, cats, and dogs. The dogs are very friendly. This more like an Inn. It has it's own kitchen. The room was very clean. It was a good place to stay.

The venue was unique & having beautiful peacocks around was a plus. The staff was beyond good & breakfast was plentiful & very good. Applauds to Jennifer, Nigel & especially Paul. They made the stay special

It was an interesting experience to stay in the Mojave Desert.

We had an interesting and exciting stay at the Shady Lady. The hosts were very flexible and kind, they allowed us to adjust breakfast times so we could enjoy the national park early in the morning before the heat. We loved the many forms of animal life we encountered on the gorgeous property. We came away with many pictures of peacocks and bunnies.

Does staying in a slightly dilapidated, peacock infested former brothel in the middle of absolute nowhere sound awesome to you? It did to me, and I appreciated all of the associated quirks, but its definitely not for everyone. Pros - from my perspective: - The place is very dog friendly, which was great for us...our two small terriers made friends with the resident canines and were very pleased to briefly become a menace to peacock society. - Speaking of the latter, there are about 50 peacocks on the property, they are very vocal and social, which I found to be both interesting and high comedy. - Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Potential cons for others: - The terms "comfortable" and "clean" are subjective and relative. As someone who spent half of their life touring in obscure punk bands and the associated sleeping accommodations I found the space to be comfortable and clean enough for our expectations and standards...but it was neither luxurious nor pristine on those fronts....I was not bummed about it but If my grandmother was staying there she would have been...back to the first sentence of this review, if you think that description sounds cool, then this is the place for you....if you think that description sound like a nightmare, then you'd be better off looking elsewhere.
