The Holiday Inn Benoa is a very kid friendly hotel. Our kids loved the swimming pool, especially the slide. They asked to swim on each day we stayed at the hotel. They also loved the kids club and could spend hours playing there. We also appreciate the free kids meal the hotel provide for the kids if we order a main entree in Pasar restaurant. The staffs at the restaurants, kids club and the pool area were also very courteous and helpful.
You definitely should take advantage of the free kids meal. Basically, all you need to do is to order 1 main entree at the restaurant during lunch or dinner and you will get free kids menu (an entree, a glass of juice and a dessert) for the kids you bring a long with you. The restaurant staff were very courteous. One time we arrived an hour before the official open time of the restaurant for dinner. However, they let us in and let us place an order. The other day, during breakfast, a waiter noticed that my son liked the fried rice very much and asked us if we wanted to order the fried rice again for tomorrow's breakfast since they did not plan to serve fried rice on the next day breakfast buffet. On the next day, upon checking in for the breakfast buffet, the attendant immediately asked us about the fried rice order and submitted the order to the chef on our behalf. So if you have any special request about the breakfast item not currently available, you could ask the staff and they may make it for you!
The kids club offers lots of programs for kids. Most are for free but you may need to pay additional fees for some programs. You should ask the friendly staffs there about all the different kinds of programs available today and pick the ones you kids like the most. They have different programs for different days. You can ask for the program schedule from the staff.
The hotel has several swimming pools. Our kids love the kids pool with the slide and splash. We like the pool that is closest to the beach as that is the one that gets the most sunlight and the one with the warmest water. We do not like the pool close the lobby area because it does not get sunlight and the water is very cold. The cold water pool is connected to several rooms with pool access. We definitely recommend not to stay in those rooms as the pool connected to them is just to cold to swim to (most of the time that pool is empty as nobody wants to swim in it).
The beach is pretty clean and well kept. It is very suitable for sun-bathing. If you want to swim at the beach, you should do it in the morning when the tide is high. In the afternoon, the tide will recede and you will not be able to swim at the beach around 4 PM onwards.
There is a free shuttle to go to the Bali Collection mall from the hotel. However, the schedule is quite limited so you need to check with the hotel staff about the schedule.
The room is pretty good, with balcony to hang out we swimming clothes and towel. It is better to get rooms closer to the beach than the ones closer to the street. Somehow, the water temperature in our bathroom keeps on fluctuating between cold and hot. We already asked the staff to fix it but they could not fixed it 100%.
Another thing we did not like about the hotel was that we could not check into our room at 3 PM as promised because the room was still being cleaned. During our stay, our room was still not cleaned when we got back to our room in the afternoon. We had to call the staff to get our room cleaned. We don't understand how come a hotel with this caliber do not have enough room cleaning staff to properly clean the rooms in the morning so that the room will be ready for new guests to check in and for current guests to come back to. We were also told that we could only have 4 bottles of drinking water per day. Providing more drinking water is a cheap way to make guests happy. If the hotel can afford to provide free kids meal, then the hotel should also be able to provide more drinking water.
The hotel is within walking distance to some local restaurants with different dishes from Indonesian, Chinese, Balinese, Indian, Western, Italian and Japanese cuisine. So if you are tired of eating at the hotel's restaurants, you could easily walk to these local restaurants.
