Hotel very beautiful ​but small room, and no bathtub

Warum dieses Hotel eine 5 Sterne Bewertung hat, war uns ehrlich gesagt ein Rätsel. Es ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und bedarf einiger Renovierungen. Die Zimmer sind relativ abgenutzt und zB die Scheibe der Dusche ist völlig verkalkt. Wir hatten erst ein Queen Zimmer mit Balkon, bei dem man auf gefängnisartigen Stacheldraht geschaut hat. Das Zimmer war winzig, wir konnten aber gegen Aufpreis upgraden. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist reichhaltig und in Ordnung aber auch nicht besser als in jedem anderen (nicht 5-Sterne) Hotel, das wir in Indonesien hatten. Das nervigste ist der Pool: viel zu wenig Liegen und immer überfüllt und man muss um einen Platz kämpfen. Das Gym ist in Ordnung, als wir da waren hat aber nur 1 Laufband funktioniert. Das Personal ist freundlich und bemüht aber leider nicht immer hilfreich, da es diverse Missverständnisse gab, zB als wir das Zimmer wechselten und ewig auf den Anruf gewartet haben, nachdem ich 2x nachgefragt habe, ob sie sich melden oder wir kommen sollen (letzteres war der Fall). Auch als meine Wäsche kommen sollte, wurde mir versichert dass diese sofort gebracht wird aber als nach 30 min immer noch nichts kam, musste ich selber runter. Entschuldigt wurde sich nie. Alle Preise im Hotel sind auf europäischem Niveau, dh in lokaler Währung kosten sie ein Vermögen (egal, ob Essen, Wäsche oder Transfers). Für einen kleinen Beutel Wäsche waren 20 Euro fällig. Einiges klingt ggf nach Meckern auf hohem Niveau aber bei 5 Sternen erwartet man eben mehr.

The breakfast buffet has an amazing selection. The building, garden and location is absolutely enchanting. The only drawback is the deluxe room we booked is overlooking a petrol station that continuously played music all night. On the second night, they have a dog that whines throughout the night. The balcony door is not sealed. If I knew that the room viewing the city will be this noisy I would have tried to book the pool view although it was not clear through expedia if I had that option.

Kamers zijn in slechte staat. Badkamer is klein en crappy. Alleen het bed is redelijk.

Beautiful historic hotel with incredible service. The pool was refreshing, the food was very good. We also received excellent advice from the travel agent on site and had a marvelous 3 days with a guide. Highly recommend this hotel for a stay in the area.

Nice colonial ambience . However , further as for 5 star hotel there was nothing else that stood out .

Well maintained and tastefully decorated, staff is professional and friendly

The hotel premises are very nice. The hotel has more traditional vibes which is cool when you are used to staying at more modern hotels. Breakfast was very good and had a lot of variety to it and the restaurant itself was partially inside and partially outside and located in an inner courtyard. So it was rather quiet, so you could really enjoy the early morning. The location of the hotel was also very good. Malioboro street can be reached within a short walk. The staff were very friendly. We did not notice any excessive questioning about our whereabouts as mentioned in some reviews. As for the rooms, they seemed a bit dated but clean. The only thing that bothered us was that our room was not very soundproof, so we were woken up before 5AM on both nights of our stay (and we are not light sleepers).

This hotel was wonderful, a cross between staying in a faded stately home and a museum! It has so much history, lovely pool and small gym. The breakfast was very extensive, served in the large internal courtyard, you can eat inside or out. The staff here couldn’t do enough for you, brilliant service. Very handy for Malioboro street. Don’t expect super plush modern rooms, they are a little dated but totally in keeping with the character of the hotel.

This hotel lived up to our expectations. A colonial hotel with beautiful furniture and artifacts. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was extensive, Indonesian choices, egg station and plenty of fruit, specially made juices. On a slight downside, the rooms were a bit tired and in need of refurbishment (but it is a 100 years old). The dinner buffet is not so extensive as breakfast. There is an a la carte menu which we didn’t try but maybe more choice. The transfer service from the airport was expensive compared to a taxi or Grab. Overall we really enjoyed our 3 nights here.

This is a well located and beautiful colonial hotel. Staff very good and helpful. The rooms need a bit of a spiff, though they are spacious and beds comfortable. Bath a bit cramped but adequate. Breakfast adequate and the courtyard is lovely. Good value.

Great staff! Excellent communication since day one. We booked airport trabsfer and the driver also was the driver to take us to the temples… it’s for an extra fee but worth hiring the ride with hotel directly. I have a recent lung condition and the staff was extra accommodating to me not walking as much and giving me a room in the first floor , connecting me to a wheelchair service at borubudur temple. I highly recommend the spa, too! The hotel is like a small Museum, so pretty!

Homie and comfortable room yet clean. Very polite hospitality crews. Breakfast buffets were amazing! Fresh juice bar to order plus wide range of options!

De Phoenix hotel was een geweldige ervaring. De bouw gecombineerd met de inrichting is een belevenis. De oude stijl geeft wat optische mankementen, maar alles doet het wel. Het zwembad is heerlijk om even af te koelen. Het personeel is super aardig. Het ontbijt is overcompleet, er is veel te kiezen. Sowieso kan je er goed eten. De locatie is op loopafstand van Malioboro street. Voor ons een top verblijf.
