No lift so you have to walk one stair with your luggage. Bar downstairs so there will be some noise but still acceptable. Room is tidy but there're few red spot (looks like dried blood) on bed sheet, wondering if they changed it every time. They credit your credit card for deposit but debit if afterward, they should void it instead cause there are charges from bank!! Free car park for customers.

Overall, a great hotel, but the hotel deposit by credit card is not humanity for international travelers. The action of "real" spending and refund for deposit by credit card will make the foreign transaction fees more! (actually it should not have any transaction fees for deposit). For other hotels, they just directly do the cancellation of the transaction and there won't any fee there.

The staff

We liked the proximity from the hotel to our son’s place nearby. We also like the Asian cuisine and grocery shopping in the Footscray areas which you can either walk or drive from the hotel. The parking area at the back of the hotel is rather convenient but can be a little tricky in the evening. Obviously the hotel restaurant is quite popular with locals so we found that out on Saturday night. We had to park on the street and wait until after 9 p.m. for the spot in the hotel car park. If you are a light sleeper like myself you might hear the sound of the traffic on the roads faintly. Overall it was a pleasant stay for us.

Nothing to like. I have been in hotels in over 30 countries but this is the only one where the toilet bowl leaked onto the floor when flushed. Horrible.

Reception was very helpful. I really loved dinner at the hotel aswell I would visit again.

Noisy, air conditioning not cooling very well, toiletries very basic, windows cannot open, lots of steep stairs, no wifi info, no staff present, over priced for what it is.

Room etc. Ok. BUT $100 was taken out of my credit card and I have had to phone several times and contact my bank to get money returned to account. Very disappointing and ruined what could have been an ok stay. Dishonesty or incompetency. Not sure which.

Good things: The room was huge! The bed was very comfortable. It was a convenient location, and the free onsite parking was appreciated. Bad things: It could get a bit noisy at night, especially when there was music or large crowds downstairs. There were no spare blankets in the room for when it got really cold on my third night there. Also on my third night, the shower temperature seemed to go haywire. I had it set to a comfortably warm temperature, then it turned freezing! When I turned off the cold water, the pure hot water was like ice... for a few seconds, then it was scalding again. This carried on, alternating between hot and cold for several minutes until I gave up. The check-in person charged my credit card for $100 instead of placing a hold on the security deposit. It then became a major hassle to get the funds returned into my account. The reception is advertised as being open until 10 pm but if you call after 2 pm you'll be told they're only open from 10 am - 2 pm and to call back tomorrow. If you call between 10 am - 2 pm the answering service will tell you all about their Christmas opening hours and then terminate the call without giving you the option to leave a message. TL;DR: It was a lovely stay, until my third night. Hopefully they can rectify the issues that caused the poor rating.

For what we wanted the Plough Hotel served it's purpose. We would happily stay again, but just note there are no lifts.

The property was perfect for my needs.....The room is a good size, clean and easy to access...... Ok there's no gym, pool and resort style amenities, but for the quick fly in and out of Melbourne it was great....close enough to the airport and city as well....

Little to no soundproofing, could hear loud music all night from the pub downstairs.
