Great lodge with widlife all around. Great breakfast. An easy walk to town and the national park to really get a feel for the area and to have different options for dinner etc.

We loved our stay. I was worried about no air conditioning but the giant fan worked great. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We woke up to birdsong every day. I only have 2 complaints. The first was that we frequently didn’t have hot water for our showers. The second was that there was no way to tip with a credit card at checkout so I had to scramble for cash.

Tolle Unterkunft

Eine der besten Unterkünfte unserer Costa Rica Reise. Sehr schöne Poolanlage, Frühstück war gut, Personal sehr freundlich. Das Zimmer gemütlich, die Betten bequem.

Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit beim Buchen von Ausflügen und Aktivitäten.

It’s a little but of work to get to mawamba, but once you’re there it’s quite pleasant. The pool area is A+ and the breakfast is too. The walk into town is easy and the number of places to get dinner is plentiful. Beware the birds are noisy but that’s nature at its best!

Very nice everything was perfect

Fabulous place to stay. Would love better internet (didn’t work in our room at all), a small gym would also be lovely. Would have loved to known we needed to pay for the water taxi to the hotel!! Nice staff, lovely breakfast, pool was just ok. Never ate dinner there, walked into town for lunch and dinner

Excellent hotel with everything you need for a great trip

Excelente lugar, súper recomendable, rústico y no es muy cómodo en el sentido de que te desconecta y pone en contacto con la naturaleza, en cuanto a comodidad me refiero a que hay que tener presente que no en todo el hotel hay wifi y se extraña el aire acondicionado, pero eso ya es más bien el alma del mismo lugar

La struttura é immersa nella vegetazione, curata, organizzata con diversi spazi e ben collegata bene al villaggio vicino. Lodge spartani ma funzionali. Se ci fosse stato bel tempo avremmo certamente utilizzato anche la piscina.

Bed was amazing and the rooms beautifully decorated and clean. Perfect!

This is my second time in Tortuguero but my first at Mawamba. I’d seen the beautiful grounds before and wanted to experience it in person, This is a nature lovers paradise! The grounds are beautifully maintained with native plants, lots of walking trails which are inviting to so much wildlife including toucans, orenpendula, parrots, macaws, red eyed tree frogs and so much more. Tortuguero National Park is a short walk away and I went there often. But I love the tours that Mawamba offers, kayak tours, birding tours, canal tours and an enjoyable floating restaurant. Rather than hop around all over Costa Rica, I spent nearly a week, and I’m glad I did. The staff is very accommodating, the food is good and the guides area amazingly skilled in the history of the area, the natural heritage and spotting wildlife. I’m very impressed and I will definitely return.

Comfortable lodge, staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of wildlife surrounding the property and a brief walk into Tortuguero town.
