If you don’t mind extremely loud music till 1/1.30 am in the pub downstairs, then this is the place for you. It was literally impossible to sleep. If you don’t mind a very dated hotel and carpets that you are not sure how clean they are, then this is the place for you. The photos are better than the reality. One positive thing is that the bed was clean and comfortable and once the extremely loud music stops at 1am you may get a good nights rest.

Just spent 3 nights to do races then explore the area. When racing is on pub gets very busy and there was a live band on till late. For us this was brilliant as had a great night and who goes to the races for quiet time. Stayed a couple of days after and totally changes to nice quiet hotel with a good sports bar downstairs. Special mention to the breakfasts which were some of the best I've had at any hotel.Staff were lovely and we used buses which stop opposite to visit Cambridge.

Parked up in property's car park slightly after 2pm and headed in to check in with luggage. Sign at hotel reception asked that we head to the bar to check in so followed instructions. Waited for almost 15 minutes before being acknowledged at bar and was told that there were only 3 members of staff on duty and there would be a further wait whilst they served bar customers before anyone could assist with check in. Waited patiently for another 20 minutes or so before pointing out to the same staff member that I would ideally like to check in now, especially considering I had already pre-paid for my room and was told that I would need to wait until the bar was less busy. At this point, I did say I was not prepared to wait any longer as people were approaching the bar after me yet being helped first, and that I would appreciate someone coming to help with gaining access to my room. So check in was certainly not the best. Upon entering the room, we found everything to be clean and tidy, and were pleasantly surprised by the room size. Bed was comfortable, kettle provided for tea/coffee, and a large fan was a welcome provision. Bathroom was spotless with plenty of towels. Room was quite noisy due to being at the front of the property, facing the main high street but this didn't hamper us sleeping, even with all the windows open. If you would prefer a quieter room, would probably be better to request a rokm overlooking the back of the hotel. Breakfast was nice.

Great hotel to stay at for horse racing the only thing is the load music till around 1 in the morning but would stay again

We were unable to check in due to a shortage of staff. Upon check in we were told we couldn’t be in the bar after 8pm as we had our 16 year old son with us. We were not advised that the bar has a DJ and music blaring out from the pub below until 1am every Friday and Saturday night. We got very little sleep as a result The manager asked us the following morning if we were kept awake by the music the previous night and openly said it is on every Friday and Saturday night. When we complained to Hotel.com the manager stated he advised of the music on check in, not before! Even though he didn’t and has refused a refund even tho we barely slept due to the music. hotel.com were useless in resolving this. Fortunately paid by credit card and they will take this forward for a refund Under consumer rights act - the hotel must clearly state on the Hotel.com platform that there is loud music til 1am every Friday and Saturday evening Also despite Hotel.com stating as we had a ‘pay later’ booking we must resolve the issue direct with the hotel, our contact is with Hotel.com! They were just trying to fob us off. When asked to put all of their excuses in writing hotel.com refused to! In summary the service was poor, sleep quality poor and the manager tells lies! Do not stay here!!!

Nice and clean Nice room

Hotel getting tired. Heating stuck on for over a year (according to staff). Daytime temperature was 32 during my visit. Kitchen had no steaks, steak and ale pies, or chilli for the 2 days I stayed. They ran out of Wsinwight beer and didn't know when they'd get re stocked Room very very small, wardrobe consisted of 4 hooks attached to the outside of the bathroom door.. staff helpful and pleasant, working with the facilities they had. Breakfast was below average, the cooked bacon had presumably been cooked flat from frozen as 3 rashers were folded over on themselves, should have sent it back. I've stayed here previously but things have deteriorated since then. I use Marston's at several locations and this one needs improvement .Come on Marston's this is not your usual standard.

Service from some staff could have been better. Restaurant closed early with menus still on tables and no one around for check out in the morning.

Our rooms looked nothing like the photo’s on here. The carpets had huge stains on them and the furniture was dated and beat up. Our window would not open and the frame was rotting. Our bathroom was dark and the shower would sporadically turn burning hot to freezing cold. The women’s toilets in the bar area had multiple out of order signs on the doors and the one I was able to use had a huge hole in the wall where tiles were missing and broken. The whole place has seen better days! In addition, the staff seemed irritated when we arrived and were quite rude to use and other members of our group (there were 23 of us). The only positives were the breakfast and the location.

Please note that if you stay at this hotel on a Friday or Saturday night, it will be very noisy. Music is played until 1am, so it’s difficult to get any sleep before then. The general cleanliness is acceptable, but there was some mould in the bathroom and the window blind was broken. It’s fine as a basic place to stay, but if you’re hoping for a good night’s sleep, this may not be the best choice.

I felt like I was staying at Fawlty Towers. The shower would sporadically go from boiling hot to freezing cold, there were fixtures hanging off walls and doors, holes in the walls, rotten wooden window frames, windows that wouldn’t open and the staff were quite rude. They also managed to lose a piece of luggage we accidentally left behind. We went back to get it a few hours after we checked out and they couldn’t find it. The manager pretty much blamed us for leaving it in the first place! Thankfully, we were only staying one night.

Well located hotel. Just off the high street with a large car park. Value for money food offering.
