Activities and local travel organised by the hotel was convenient and secure. The staff are friendly and helpful. Hot breakfast at the hotel was good. The home itself is stunning. We would return.

Amazing hospitality from everyone in the staff and quiet convenient location to beaches and nearby attractions.

The property is a renovated French-style villa with multiple courtyards. Beautiful architecture, the wind flows through and keeps rooms cool - they have good AC also. The restaurant serves great food in the evenings, and they have great arranged tours etc.

an old home superbly refurbished, with many nods to the history of the building, and the family who lived there many years ago. The ambience is excellent, staff friendly and the place very clean and well appointed. The restaurant served excellent local cuisine.

Excellent heritage property, located in the prime of the city. Valet parking was a breeze, and breakfast options were good. Rooms were elegantly decorated as per norms of the past periods which it sought to bring to life. And the welcome drink was truly refreshing, of which I unapologetically had two!

The staff at Maison Perumel were so helpful and friendly; they really made the stay special..The rooms are very comfortable and the food was exceptional! It is in the Heritage area of Puddichery so about a 15/20 minute walk from White Town and French Quarter but tuktuks are everywhere! I love the CGH ethos and definitely recommend Maison Perumel.

The hotel is gorgeous and the staff are so very kind. I stayed here with elderly parents and they did everything they could to make us comfortable. Breakfast (brunch really) is included and the food in the restaurant is delicious. There is a smelly drain in front of the hotel and I felt bad for the receptionist who sits close to the entryway all day — but they are working on it! You won’t notice it in your room. Otherwise it is quite a convenient location, walkable to several landmarks and the beach.

They have created a very cozy atmosphere in the hotel and take the trouble to learn each client's individual preferences. They were willing to go the extra mile for e.g. to meet my vegetarian requirements, outside of the menu. The property is classically Chettinad and they have made every effort to preserve the beauty of the old mansion, while adding every modern convenience and the end result is simply exquisite! I would truly like to stay at this hotel every time I visit Pondy

Shakti and the rest of the team at maison Perumal go out of their way to make sure your stay is as comfortable and customized as you'd like it to be! All one needs to do is ask! The most polite team I have come across at this small 130 year old revamped building! The breakfast is on point and I would personally recommend to pick room 101 or 102 as you would get a large almost private terrace! If I visit pondi again I will surely stay here and would recommend it to others as well!

Beautifully restored and furnished this hotel, part of the CGH group, provides a unique place to explore Pondicherry from the traditional Tamil quarter of the city. The French quarter and the Promenade are about a 15 minute stroll from the hotel. Located on a street that is just a short walk from the Perumal Temple, the building was originally a home to a Chettiar family of successful businessmen. The ground level has lovely common areas with courtyards that are filled with lush tropical foliage. The first and second floors have individual guest rooms that offer privacy, great furniture and modern conveniences such as wifi, cable TV and modern bathroom fittings. Service is outstanding from the moment you arrive to the time you leave and the staff are attentive to your needs. The hotel has a generous breakfast with fresh fruit, juices, cereal, eggs cooked to your taste with sausage and bacon, and an additional indian cooked breakfast. You get all that as part of one breakfast! Who needs lunch after such a repast, but if you do, there is a good choice of entrees to choose from. I was impressed by this heritage hotel and would gladly try one of the many others in the CGH chain across South India. Strongly recommended after a recent visit to Pondicherry on December 3rd 2018.

My wife and I chose to stay here for a weekend in July 2017 and completely enjoyed our time there.The hotel is a large, beautifully restored, 130-year old home. Perfect blend of classic Tamil Nadu architecture and completely modern facilities. The hotel is a visual treat and the staff provided wonderful service. They allowed us to check-in early and check-out late, which was very helpful. Centrally located, so once we drove in, we could just walk everywhere and didn't need the car at all. The rooms are tastefully appointed, but if you want to relax in the room, the TV has NO English entertainment channels, so carry your own entertainment or a book. The beautiful restaurant also had only traditional Tamil Nadu cuisine, so for me that was a bit of a let-down. Also, there is only limited street parking. Notwithstanding the TV channels selection (considering the tariff of the room) and limited food options, the hotel is fantastic and I highly recommend it. A 4.5-Star rating would be my rating.

Hotel de estilo colonial recientemente restaurado. La decoración es muy bonita. Mi habitación era pequeña pero funcional y comoda, y muy tranquila (no se oyen ruidos del exterior). El WiFi va muy bien. El desayuno es bastante sencillo pero completo para no ser buffet. Está situado algo al extremo de lo que sería el casco histórico pero se puede ir caminando.

We had booked this hotel 2 months in advance via Expedia. After booking, we called the hotel and spoke to the Manager (Mr. Sam) to reconfirm our booking and specifically requested for Room No. 102. He assured us that he would block the room for us. After 2 months when the day came for us to head to Pondicherry, we were running late so we had called to inform that we might be an hour later than the check-in time (3 PM). Mr. Sam once again assured us that there will be no problem and that our room (#102) was ready! This warm and accommodating nature of Mr. Sam made us excited to look forward to the hotel stay. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a garland of jasmine flowers and cold towel by Mr. Jason (Front desk manager). He promptly had our luggage taken to the rooms, while we checked-in and got a map of the places to visit explained in detail. The following days of our stay was filled yummy complimentary breakfast, guidance by Mr. Jason, Mr. Bijoy and Mr. Mani, whenever we needed assistance. A walk within the hotel will give you a feeling of walking through an old beautiful home filled with love and joy. We were totally warmed by their hospitality and helping nature. The night before we left Pondicherry, we had dinner at the hotel and were floored with their Idiyappam, fish curry & prawns that we gave the entire staff a box of chocolates to express our gratitude :). Thank you Mason Perumal for a wonderful & peaceful stay! We will come back soon :)

Maison Perumal is a quaint hotel from a boutique (ish) chain. I stayed for three nights and enjoyed my stay, with the staff being wonderful, charming and very helpful. The breakfast is nice, fresh and plentiful with actual espresso being provided - not the norm in India (even at 5 star hotels) . Dinner specialities change nightly and are tasty but the servings are very much on the small side. The hotel general areas are well appointed and maintained. My only 'cons' being the atrocious wifi (when it actually worked - while it is a supplier issue, still not good enough for a guest who had to work) and the very small bathrooms - I tried two rooms, with the first one just above tiny sized.
