This was a great place to stay during our three nights in Edinburgh! I loved the location as it wasn’t in a super busy area but was close enough to everything that you could walk or take public transportation. The buses were easy to use, you could just scan your credit card when you got on. The restaurant on site was very good and we enjoyed our breakfasts and some dinner there as well. The room we were in had nice tree-filled views and we were able to leave the windows open for a lovely cross breeze and to hear the birds chirping away. One downside is the location is near a busy road and on a college campus so you will definitely hear road noise all night and people walking by if you leave the windows open. Nothing some ear plugs can’t help with though. I’d definitely stay there again!

We are delighted with this hotel and its staff. In a quiet location on the University of Edinburgh campus, yet only about a 30 minute walk or inexpensive cab ride to the Royal Mile. Breakfast was very good and allowed us to skip the time and expense of having lunch. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet oasis at the end of a busy day.

Ideaal hotel als je met eigen wagen naar Edinburgh rijdt. Je kan gemakkelijk de bus naar het centrum centrum. Hotel is rustig gelegen aan Arthur’s seat.

The scholar is a nice hotel in a lovely setting surrounded by trees. I had a small single room but it worked for me for the price. Quite easy to get into Edinburgh cental from the bus stoop across the street, too.

Rooms are big and clean, all the bits you would need are there. Staff is super welcoming, friendly and funny. Car parking available and Electric chargers too! Very well located and super quiet at night. My only tiny complaint- the door to the stairs were next to one of the walls and early morning bang again and again with people coming and going so a lay in would be difficult if you are a light sleeper

Breakfast was exceptional as was the evening meal we booked. Hotel was stylish and spotlessly clean. Staff extremely helpful. Location in pleasant, green surroundings - quiet respite from the tourists and bustle of the city, yet within walking distance for all the visitor attractions.
I would definitely stay at the Scholar again when I visit Edinburgh.
