Where to stay in Koh Samui
Choose your part of Koh Samui before choosing a room. Chaweng suits a stay built around its beach, shops and nightlife; Bophut and Mae Nam provide northern-coast alternatives; Lamai and the Maret coast offer another eastern base; and Laem Yai or Lipa Noi put you on the western side. Your hotel's precise location matters more than a broad Bo Phut or Maret label.
Next decide what “beach holiday” means for you: a beachfront room, a resort with shared pools, a private-pool villa or a base for evenings out. These are different offers, and neither a sea-view photograph nor a hotel's name establishes what comes with your selected room.
Chaweng: compare the atmosphere and room layout
Family rooms, beach resorts and nightlife
OZO Chaweng Samui gives families a specific layout to compare. Its Superior Family category connects a king-bedroom with a twin-bedroom and has two bathrooms and a garden view. The operator lists it for two adults and two children or four adults. This is a connecting-room option, distinct from booking one standard room and requesting extra beds.
The Stay Chaweng Beach Resort lists an outdoor pool, children's pool, restaurant and beach loungers. Combo Beach Hotel Samui also lists outdoor and children's pools, alongside beach cabanas and a restaurant. Compare the room's position and meal plan rather than treating the resort facility list as a package of included activities.
ARKbar Beach Club & Resort explicitly markets itself as a Chaweng party resort. That is a meaningful choice for travellers who want the beach-club scene close to their room. If quiet evenings are a priority, compare the setting and room position with other Chaweng properties instead of assuming all beach resorts have the same atmosphere.
SALA: choose the wing and the pool category
SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort separates Garden Wing and Oceanfront Wing accommodation. Its Garden Deluxe Balcony is a second-floor room reached only by stairs, with an indoor shower and bathtub. The Garden Pool Villa instead has a private pool and patio. Choose the actual room and wing; a booking at a beachfront resort does not make every room oceanfront or give every guest a private pool.
Other Chaweng accommodation
3 Tigers Resort & Hostel, on Haad Ngam Road, lists an outdoor pool, garden, Wi-Fi and lockers. Top Hostel Samui lists air conditioning and a garden. Select the actual sleeping and bathroom arrangement rather than assuming the word “hostel” means a dormitory bed.
Nora Lakeview Hotel documents room desks, refrigerators and Wi-Fi. Samui First House Hotel lists a pool, restaurant and parking. For a location near Central Samui, COSI Samui Chaweng Beach describes a rooftop pool, social hub and self-service laundry. Compare that central hotel format separately from accommodation directly on the sand.
Chaweng Bay View Resort by Smith & Appy is another Chaweng-area comparison, with a pool, children's pool, garden and massage facilities listed. Compare its actual room position when deciding between a view-focused stay and one chosen for direct beach access.
Chaweng Noi, Lamai and the Maret coast
The Fair House Beach Resort & Hotel is a Chaweng Noi comparison with outdoor and children's pools, a garden, restaurant and beach loungers. For another Chaweng-area option, Baan Haad Ngam Boutique Resort & Villas lists a pool, children's pool and restaurant. Its villa name alone does not establish the pool or bedroom arrangement of your room.
Silavadee Pool Spa Resort, in Maret, offers a useful distinction between a Jacuzzi room and a pool villa. Its Ocean View Jacuzzi Deluxe has a private balcony with an outdoor Jacuzzi. The Ocean Front Pool Villa has a private infinity-edge pool and terrace. Both are specific categories; a Jacuzzi room should not be selected on the assumption that it includes the villa's swimming pool.
Bophut, Bang Rak and Mae Nam
Bophut's Fisherman's Village is a distinct destination within the northern coast. A broad Bo Phut address can also cover accommodation around Chaweng or Bang Rak, so use the actual beach and hotel entrance when planning evenings and transport.
ibis Samui Bophut lists a Bophut Beach address, an outdoor pool, parking and a 24-hour front desk. The Culture Samui, associated with Bang Rak, lists an outdoor pool, restaurant, room desks and an airport-transfer service. These are different bases from a hotel chosen specifically for Fisherman's Village.
Escape Beach Resort gives a Mae Nam address and lists a pool, children's pool and poolside bar. Paradise Beach Resort Koh Samui also lists a Mae Nam Beach location, with family-room and connecting-room categories among its facilities.
Laem Yai and Lipa Noi: western-coast stays
Mai Samui Beach Resort and Spa lists Laem Yai Beach in Ang Thong, with outdoor and children's pools, a restaurant and room desks. TUI BLUE The Passage Samui is another Ang Thong comparison. Its villa and meal offers require category-level comparison; a list containing full-board and half-board options does not mean either is included in every booking.
Samaraya Wellness Resort – Adults Only is listed in Lipa Noi with a spa, sauna, pool and restaurant. Its published adults-only designation makes guest eligibility an essential part of room selection. These western-coast properties should be compared for their own setting rather than treated as accommodation beside Chaweng nightlife.
Match arrival arrangements to the hotel
Flying into Samui Airport and arriving from the mainland by ferry involve different arrival points. Seatran Ferry's mainland route connects Donsak with Nathon Pier on Samui; that is not an airport arrival or a Bang Rak pier. Give your transfer provider the actual terminal or pier and hotel entrance.
Search exact dates and guest numbers, then compare room beds, view, pool type, meals and cancellation terms. Reserve a documented family layout or private-pool category when that is central to the trip. Sea conditions and beach access can vary, so a hotel pool remains a separate facility from swimming in the sea.
