Beautiful historical hotel, close to all amenities.

The staff were welcoming and warm. This hotel is in a prime location; bringing it up to it’s “former glory” if possible, is a good idea.

Check in was easy and quick, and when we had a slight issue with our room, it was resolved brilliantly for us. The room was a little bit tired, but great for the price. Bathroom was gorgeous and clean, water pressure was perfect! We parked at the NCP which was very close by. Loads of nice bars and restaurants within walking distance too. We stayed here for a concert at the castle and the location was PERFECT! And couldn't hear a thing from the venue with the windows closed. Would stay again.

Shocking experience! Don’t be fooled by the pictures, our room was old, poorly decorated and bore no resemblance to the pictures on the site. Breakfast was shocking with many items not being replaced when they ran out - despite being down for 8:30.

The breakfast was terrible, definitely not worth the cost.

The staff were very helpful and they attention especially Joey who took many calls from me. The room was clean and met our needs. The location was perfect close to all amenities very central.

Location is great. Hotel is old but decent for price. No A/C. Staff is great and very helpful!

Great location staff friendly

The room was old but nicely modernised. It was extremely hot in the room but we slept ok with the supplied fan. Breakfast was ok, an average selection for buffet style, the coffee was not good. All the staff were very friendly.

It was a lovely hotel and the location was perfect as we were going to a gig at the castle. Staff were very friendly. Only one lift was working and they are very slow to call. We ended up taking the stairs. The reception area and lounge were nice and cool however the room was very hot. The room did have a fan but we could have done with another one. The shower could have done with a little more power but it wasn’t terrible. Beds were very comfy. Breakfast was great, lots of selection and very fresh. Unfortunately we stayed when there were roadworks being undertaken so it was quite noisy and you could feel the vibrations. However, we would stay there again.

Had a really nice overnight stay. After a five minute walk from the NCP down the road plenty of spaces on the Friday evening, and fairly reasonable at £17 for 24 hours with a discount from the hotel. Friendly greeting when met at reception as we arrived, simple check in. The deluxe suite wasn't really deluxe, just a large room and separate large bathroom and toilet, it could really do with an update or at least decorating. It was all clean, no dust, dirty or greasy surfaces just things like messy silicon in the bathroom and stains on the walls. The bed had really clean and tidy linen, but was probably in need of a new mattress it sloped a bit to one side and very soft, we'd had a long day and were tired and slept surprisingly really well though. The breakfast the next morning was really good for a hot buffet, plenty of choice being regularly topped up. The hotel was full when we stayed but wasn't busy at all when we went for ours at 9:30 with no dirty tables, two staff doing a good job, we had a really nice time there and it'll be our first choice next time we're in Cardiff

Lovely stay, friendly staff

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room. Hotel a bit dated but a bargain and good for a short stay.

Good value for money very good location

It was fine starting to feel it’s age but a pleasant stay

We have stayed her before - a few years ago - and purposely chose this hotel as we liked its situation. Great location and the room and bedding were very clean. We had a fan in the room which was necessary in this warm weather and the room was very comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee. Also, we had the bonus of a great breakfast which we weren’t aware of, but a most welcome addition and had a great choice of everything you would want. Car parking is in the NCP across the road, which is different to our previous visit when there was hotel parking (this is now closed and a building site) and £32 for 24 hours. Staff were courteous and friendly and check in was easy. We had a good stay, but the hotel, although beautiful, is old and could do with some investment in the structure and decoration, but it was absolutely suitable for our short visit.
