A fabulous setting and great facilities. Very handy to Leeds or Bradford. Staff were really helpful too

okay hotel, food was dreadful though

The venue is superb but I was disappointed at the attitude of the staff. They didn't seem happy and weren't helpful when needed - it was as if it was all too much trouble! At breakfast I apologised that I couldn't eat the fried egg as it was solid like rubber, the pear was dense and not ripe and the pastries were white and doughy - the waitress couldn't care less and didn't attempt to apologise. When I checked out the receptionist was miserable and didn't ask if I'd enjoyed my stay or thank me for staying. You really need to work on customer-staff relations.

Disappointed not to be able to get a treatment at the spa, despite it being advertised- the girls had gone home for the day. Also had to walk to the spa to find this out- couldn't book through hotel reception. Good breakfast and room clean enough but could probably do with an upgrade as it looked tired.

We loved the pool, sauna, steam room. We stopped for two nights to rest after a busy grad week. The rooms were nice and the food was great. Couldn’t book a spa treatment as they were all booked up. Everyone we met were friendly. We will be back.

Everything was top class apart from the evening meal which was really quite poor. When we sat down to eat both beef dishes (steak and feathered beef) had run out. The meatballs starter was also off the menu. We ordered the chicken and avocado burger. The chicken was tough and there was around 2cm of avocado on top of it. A good chef would have most definately questioned why so much food came back to the kitchen on one plate. We ordered the chocolate desert which should have bee. Chocolate brownie but the kitchen had also run out so we had a chocolate rocky road type pudding with ice cream which was good and also the cheese plate which had grapes that looked like they were a week old, most definately on there way out of date. Other than that, the room was stunning and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Would definately stay again and not take the half board option. Breakfast was great.

Unfortunately, they gave the distinct impression that we were not welcome and something of an inconvenience. There are a lot of rules about what you can't do. The property is ageing and the staff not particularly happy it seems. This is a hotel that caters for older clientele, in large numbers and this shapes the attitude and tempo of the venue. Won't be going here again.

Staff were not polite and not helpful after hours

Hollins Hall has been a great and grand hotel in the past I think. Does it need a revamp? Absolutely! That said, the bed was comfy. It caters for the golfing fraternity mostly it seems. Where Hollins Hall isn't as grand as the name might imply, we do stay there often as it's close to family we visit. In the broad scheme of things it's fine if you need a comfy bed for the night and it's very good value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room was clean ( we had an accessible room - the toilet was too low with someone with mobility issues) the shower was fab and the bar on 2nd floor was nice and serves food until 9.30pm. We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food quality.

Superb hotel in wonderful location handy for local amenities. Did not use spa facilities which looked good. Somewhat confusing concept - hotel had lovely frontage with outdoor seating area but bars etc were closed so not able enjoy snacks, drinks etc at the front. Maybe the available facilities at the front were opened for weddings only. Although a large significant hotel the only facilities available were a small bar/restaurant a good trek away at the rear in the golf area. Outdoor seating with no views surrounded by golf buggy/trolley parking. Food was not impressive. Overall impression was that unless golfers or event guests residents were a nuisance and although claiming to be dog friendly were merely accepting of dogs with uncomfortable coffee table type areas only available for dining. Staff were polite but rarely friendly and rooms were not made up daily. Enjoy your wedding or golf here certainly but otherwise a normal passing business trade venue at its best.

Warm welcome, professional staff, beautiful room, very clean, comfortable and practical. Only downside, no fridge or minibar. Gorgeous location, only here a short time so didn't check out golf, spa or bar etc but will definitely return.
