If you’re a family booking the Best Western Lloydminster for the pool and slide—don’t. I’ve never seen someone work so hard to suck the joy out of a room full of kids.
A laundry attendant (not a lifeguard, not pool staff) made it her personal mission to yell at every child for simply being children. “Stop yelling.” “Stop walking fast.” “Sit up on the slide.” “Get out of the pool immediately.” “No toys.” “No floaties.” “No games.” She called everything “rough housing,” even when kids were just splashing or cheering.
My youngest son is autistic, and I specifically told her not to yell at him. She ignored me, continued shouting, and upset him so badly he cried. We left after fifteen minutes—so much for the fun he looks forward to during his brother’s tournaments.
When I told the front desk, they shrugged and said they’d “let the manager know.” No apology. No concern. Nothing.
If you don’t like children, find a new job. If your job is laundry, do laundry. Let parents parent their kids. This hotel needs to rethink what “family‑friendly” actually means.
