a really nice hotel with lots of history, our room was clean, the staff were really friendly and the breakfast was great, close to the centre, the theatre and the parks so excellent location. Only downside was the hotel lists free parking - yes there is as long as you are parked away from the hotel but only £6 for a permit for the day to park outside the hotel - perhaps this needs mentioning?

The hotel is in a prime position for visiting Buxton or touring the area. We were able to check in a little earlier and quickly sorted the 24hr pass for parking right outside the hotel. It felt very secure. The room and bathroom were very clean and the bathroom had a powerful hot shower and lovely fluffy towels. The room is a little tired and could do with a quick makeover. However it wouldn’t put me off staying again! The breakfast was delicious and the buffet was plentiful. The staff member in the breakfast room was very friendly and made us feel welcome.

The hotel is old and run down . The girl on the desk did her utmost best to change out room as the previous room offered had lots of damp and dust. She was so friendly and accommodating and did everything to make our stay comfortable. I think she is from Newcastle? What a great girl- thanks so much! The breakfast was very nice and nice staff there too.

We had an excellent stay, for an old hotel it was very well looked after. Staff were super friendly and the breakfast was good. Excellent position in the town. Will stay again.

What a disappointment. The building is in dire need of refurbishment. The Geordie receptionist was extremely nice but is overworked. The bar kind of sums up the place, stained broken seats and carpet. Our room had a huge crack in plaster, huge hole in landing ceilings, cracked window glass and rotten windows. What a shame but too expensive for what you get.

The hotel was very rundown. The room was dusty, curtains grubby & didn't close properly. Loose toilet seat & the cold water came out warm. Kettle & tray were very dusty with cups & glasses put on the tray top down. No hand towels. Breakfast, both selection & quality, very poor with only one staff member on duty to deal with a full breakfast room.

Clean room but faded grandeur and old stained furniture in the bedroom . No complimentary water and only 2 tea bags and no coffee. The pillows were very hard or lumpy tho the 4 poster bed was pretty comfy. Dog suitable room but no water bowl for the dog. Greeting from reception fine but no dinner available - had to go next door to sister hotel which is Champneys owned - their restaurant was full so went to Darwin's Bar which served food too ( part f the sister hotel ) We ordered linguine and it took 1hr and 20 mins to arrive! The bar staff and head waiter Alistair were very apologetic and gave our food and drinks free as an apology so a hungry but cheap night ! Apparently the chefs were going to be thrashed!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lee on reception and Ruth in the restaurant were very helpful and outstanding. The evening meal was exceptional. The four poster bed was very comfortable the shower was very good as well . We would have no reservations about staying there again.

The Old Hall hotel is a lovely old building, with all the charm you would expect. On arrival the reception staff were fantastic and helped us with parking arrangements. The room was lovely overlooking the Opera House. It was very hot whilst we were there but the room remained cool. The room facilities were good. I cant review the breakfast as the gas wasnt working in the hotel, and breakfast was served in the sister hotel next door.

Lovely location and quiet. Lots of places to eat nearby. Close to high street. Lots of history within the hotel and surrounding area.

Tired but clean.Room nice size but adjoining room shower/toilet about 2ft away from my pillow through a stud wall,whilst the two windows in the room were3ft above the patio used for breakfast.In the hot weather with the Windows open we almost had someone else's breakfast in bed. Unfortunately breakfast was served on cold plates and was quickly cold,pity! We have stayed here before and will again.,just avoiding room 7.

Clean rooms, very good staff, good breakfast, good bar, close to all.bars, shops etc. Noisy outside during the night due to location. Cant be helped by the hotel, but good to.know

Character property in the heart of Buxton. We arrived very late (after midnight) and the Night team at the hotel were exceptional. They couldn't have been more helpful in moving luggage and assisting check in while my wife tried to keep our baby asleep. Good breakfast in the morning. Well appointed room.

Excellent staff, bar and food. Room was clean but bathroom dated. Would stay again as excellent value for money.

Staff were wonderful especially as we had to check out after 1 night due to illness (nothing to do with the hotel)

It’s an old building with wonky floors and doorways which is charming in its own way. There are clear signs of ongoing maintenance that will improve the look & feel. Breakfast was delicious and the staff worked very hard, both check in and check out were a breeze and staff super friendly. The only draw back was the creakiest bed ever, the slightest twitch from one of us and we were both awake. It was a 1 night stay so not a real issue but couldn’t have put up with it for a longer stay.

Room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. Furniture was looking tired. Breakfast was good as was the bar menu. However, the very old lift did not work - not a problem for me but others may struggle with the stairs. In the bathroom the water pressure was very low and the drainage from the basin was slow.

The building was old and needs some maintenance and updating. The room was unfortunately dirty, the carpet particularly. had some sticky patches. The staff were very helpful and friendly, but the breakfast was overpriced for what was provided.
