We had a 2 night stay in this hotel in a standard double room.Our room was in desperate need of renovation. Stains on carpet and furniture in need of replacement. Breakfast was average, with not alot of cooked options. On the plus side it was quiet and we slept well.

This hotel is the closest one to the Alton station. That is the main reason to choose this place. It takes only three minutes to walk from the station platform to the hotel reception. You don’t need to worry whether a taxi is waiting when you get off a train.

Nice staff

Very dated, old and shabby hotel. Room was basic and ok, but the bathroom was tatty and there was some mould and the towels smelt funny, We weren’t expecting much, but it was very basic and I wouldn’t give it the 3* it supposedly has. The reception staff were friendly but it was like walking back into something from the 80s! Glad we only stayed one night

The hotel would benefit from some investment and TLC, this said, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The car parking is good gives easy access to the town centre which has some good restaurant choices. The room was well proportioned and offered plenty of space, however, a lack of shelves in the bathroom for toiletries was frustrating.

It's a good place, clean, basic breakfast. No lifts so we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs.

Very charming hotel near Jane Austen home. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Restaurant had typical English food that was delicious. Room was clean and comfortable

Friendly and helpful staff throughout and at every level. Excellent situation for the train station and a short walk from the town.

We had a lovely one night stay in one of the feature rooms which had a very large four poster bed. The room itself was a good size. The bathroom was small but had everything that was necessary. The bed was very comfortable. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Breakfast was good and the full English was just the right size. The staff that we interacted with were very friendly and welcoming. We would stay here again.

Check in was easy and the staff were amazing during my entire stay. I stayed in a single room, the room was surprisingly spacious and well laid out and had a decent sized bathroom. Couple of things to note: Room was on the third floor, there is no elevator. Not too much of a problem as the stairs are not steep or narrow. Room was in the”attic space” so being just over 5’ tall wasn’t too much of a problem, but anyone taller may find it a bit of a problem. Room had great skylights with really good black out blinds! Hotel is showing a little wear and tear, but considering the age of the building it’s nothing major. It has a lot of charm. Food was also really good, and reasonably priced. Reception area is very welcoming with a fire going the entire time (I visited in Jan!). It’s also a nice place to sit and read with a drink (bar is handy being right next door) Big bonus is the ease of getting around, it’s less than 5 mins from the train station and about a 5 min walk into the town. It’s also only a 35-40 min walk to Jane Austen’s house and Chawton House. Which is another bonus! Overall would 100% stay here again!

Everything fine

From the moment we arrived the staff were so helpful and friendly which continued throughout our 2night stay. Room a lovely size. Lovely and warm too. Food was great and bar staff attentive too. All in all a very relaxing experience and would thoroughly recommend to others.

Really basic hotel. Phoned before arrival to ask for a refurbished room back by read some reviews and if the room I had was a refurbished one I’d hate to see one that wasn’t. Bed frayed and tired, bathroom dated, floor nearly worn through, black mould around the shower/bath and room needed a good clean - splatters on the bathroom door, dead flies clinging to the window frame. Definitely had better stays
