Very pleasant and helpful staff. The drainage of the shower was bad. The breakfast was good.

A proper pub full of friendly locals. Breakfast is plentiful and well cooked. There’s a great choice of evening meals which are excellent and great value. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Spacious family room which worked really well for two humans and one pooch for a night. Room at the back of the pub which was really really quiet and peaceful overnight. Such a shame the double glazing has blown and the view out over the fields was obscured as it was lovely. Good sized hot shower. A few hooks on doors and towel rails would be the only thing to add to the space. Lovely original character features in the room. Very comfortable beds made for a good night's sleep for all 3! Great dog walks on the doorstep of this dog accomodating accommodation. Good breakfast with bacon, egg and mushrooms cooked to perfection! Would stay again and recommend to stay at this friendly establishment.

Great value for money in a nice location. The staff were very nice in particular the owner and the room was comfortable and fine. The full English breakfast was served very quickly and was lovely. This is a thriving pub and a true find.

Great people, great room, great food, the photos on hotels.com are old and the room is much nicer. There is no food Sunday evening but they let us order a takeout and eat in the pub which was really nice of them… would go again

Excellent - friendly hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are clean and way above the star listing in terns of facilities. There is a pub below the accommodation but there is no issue with noise. The food is very good quality and plenty of ir. This pace is my ‘go to’ on business to the North East

A really nice friendly place to stay offering a warm welcome, very nice, spotlessly clean en suite comfortable rooms, at truly amazing prices, which include a fantastic breakfast. The inn also provides good wholesome food all day. I thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay to break your journey en route to Scotland.

Set in lovely countryside views, owners & staff all veey friendly & helpful, fabulous choice of breakfasts, meals available during evening also with a varied menu including gluten free. No hesitation in recommending The Royal Oak for any length of stay, wish we could have stayed for longer!!!!

Husband & Wife landlords. Made me feel very welcome. Well kept bar, room was excellent and breakfast plentiful and set me up for the day. 100% would recommend and will stay again

Food was good and our room was very good apart from the en-suite door which was very dirty both sides, it hasn’t been painted so all dirt soaks in. It needs a towel hook inside the en-suite. If that door was clean, our stay would have been perfect.

Lovely welcome by staff. Nice evening meal & breakfast. Shower is amazing in room 3. Would book again. Some building work going on round the back but this won't last forever.
