Lovely little hotel right in the centre of York amongst shops, restaurants, bars and just around the corner from York Minster. It’s situated in an excellent position to see the city. It’s only a small lodge hotel so it doesn’t have a wealth of amenities but it’s very clean, somewhat romantic as you have lovely copper baths in the room and the style of the property is quite old. The room we stayed in, which was at the top had the old ceiling beams and a cute small window but a larger one too. There were little inviting details in our room, such as two cups and saucers, a glass jar of teas, coffees, chocolate and milk sachets. Also, small individual packs of biscuits and a kettle. Also, the staff switched on a table top fan which we were very thankful for as we stayed in one of the hottest periods in June 2026. Although, the room was quite small we had a lovely, comfortable, king sized bed and the copper bath was on the one side of the bed ( a bit of a gap in between) but near the window and there was a small table that had small bottles of Molton Brown shower gel and bubble bath as well as a nice bar of soap. We also, had a toilet and small sink too in a separate cut-off en-suite, toilet room, so you could put your toilet bag in that space too. Finally, there’s plenty of cupboard space and a little wardrobe to put your clothes away and we found two white, towelling robes hanging up in the wardrobe as an added extra which was nice too. Lovely hotel in all & very friendly staff.
