Excellent hotel with friendly staff in a great location. We used this as a stopover on our way to the channel tunnel and it was perfect. 5-star

My initial impression wasn’t great. The hotel part was really in need of a good lick of paint and a new carpet. That said, it is a very old building so some allowances should be made. The bed in the room was very comfortable with fresh white linen and fluffy pillows. The bathroom was tiny but modern and clean. The staff was nice and very welcoming of my little dog. The bar is stylishly decorated in keeping with its age but with a modern edge. As a solo traveller I didn’t fancy staying up late in the bar and found the staff were very accommodating when I asked to take a glass of wine to my room. I was then able to relax on the bed and watch the massive TV (England v Croatia FIFA World Cup). I was given a key to the main door which was great for late night and early morning dog wees. Breakfast was delicious (Eggs Royale)

Bar closed early - even to residents! Staff were very friendly - room was great although decoratively a little tired - breakfast was good - only one cup of coffee or tea offered, would be better with a pot of tea or coffee. Generally a good place to stay

Rigtig hyggeligt og pænt sted. Ligger for enden af Mermaid street, den hyggeligste gade i Rye, så man bor med fantastisk placering. Værelserne er pæne og rene. Man skal dog nå frem til hotellet inden kl. 20, for da går personalet hjem og kommer først tilbage næste morgen.

A comfortable bed and the premium coffee and tea of offer

Really great stay very clean excellent service nothing was too much trouble…. good location and central. The only slight issue was the wifi which wasn’t stable or consistent other than that would definitely recommend thanks very much

Lovely comfortable clean room, very helpful staff. There was no air conditioning and we couldn’t open the windows and we stayed during a heatwave so the room was very hot. Next time probably wouldn’t pay for breakfast as there are lots of excellent cafes close by

Room and en suite was lovely. We had dinner in the bar which was tasty and staff where polite. Number of car parks within walking distance and well placed to explore the town

Good location and fairly priced. Suite room was good for us as a family and TVs were large. Staff were quite busy (they are also running a busy bar and restaurant) but generally helpful. No fridge in the room but generally good.

Friendly welcome from Dwayne, lovely atmosphere and a really good breakfast after a very comfortable nights sleep.

Friendly and welcoming staff on arrival and during our stay. A pleasant and well located Hotel/Pub that met our needs. Room was small, but it says that in the description, so no complaints from us unlike others who obviously hadn't bothered to read the room descriptions. Comfortable bed and decent pillows which were most welcome. Would stay again.

Staff need training. No welcome from reception. Room needed a lot of updating. Fire alarm went off in early hours. No staff on site and no emergency contact details readily available once we had evacuated. No apology when checking out and we weren’t asked if we’d had a good stay. Excellent location.

Lovely room and overall amenities. I was down working and had to start at 9:30. So to find out breakfast was from 9am was a disappointment. Way too late for someone who might be staying over for work. Expedia show as from 8am which is more sensible. No update about this from the hotel. Staff did their best to get the breakfast out asap which was good. But it didn’t have to be rushed if it was served from a sensible time. I’ve stayed before and always had it from 8am. Chef needs to get up earlier!

Väldigt litet rum med ingen plats att ha en öppen resväska. På plats framkom att man inte serverar frukost längre. Personalen ok, men kunde inte tänka sig att kolla om rummet hade blivit färdigt tidigare. Det var 15 som gällde…

Room clean and spacious the hush hush room, breakfast was plentiful and good ,good location

Clean room, a little cramped, but good. Nowhere to sit apart from the bed. Quieter than expected.
