Tried to check in after booking through Expedia only to be told that there was no booking in my name and they had no rooms available despite my booking a reference from Expedia and the money been taken from my account and which has still not been refunded to me. Very disappointed with both the Hotel and Expedia

The hotel was lovely and clean very old worldy set in a beautiful location They even have their own Heli pad A lovely little walk across the road through a wood and a bench to sit on to admire the beautiful views For us it was too way out and not practical

Nice clean room with bath & shower. Breakfast great on two days but on our middle day the breakfast was a buffet which was not so good.

Check-in staff were miserable and unhelpful. We booked a table in the restaurant but on arrival were told that the restaurant is only used for breakfast. We had to eat in the bar but we did not have a table reserved and had to scrabble for a table. The food was very basic pub food with little choice and the drinks choices very limited. Breakfast was very good.

Bedroom and bathroom in need of upgrade. Lots of dirty marks on bedroom walls, faulty bedside light, paint peeling on window cills, net curtains coming apart. Bathroom - broken plug on hand basin, cold draughts through badly fitting window, no rubber/non-slip bath mat available when requested for bath with shower over. Spectacular location, amazing views, plenty of parking, good breakfast.

£100 pound pre authorisation charge in addition to your normal invoice. Will not charge any items to room (bar or food) even thou you are staying and they have your card details. Check in was terrible. Was not informed of the above, not even told breakfast times or where to find dining room etc. Hotel extremly quiet, No one in bar. Although the website says has restaurant and literature says is open it most certainly is not. Was closed all the time and only offered bar food. Bar food limited choice and the quality is terrible. Starter came less than five minutes after ordering, Cannot cook from fresh within that time. Obviously had either been pre cooked or was frozen and zapped in microwave. Food was tasteless. Outside at side of hotel looked to be very run down boarded up stable blocks. Also upon taking walk around back of hotel, building at side was falling down with roof carved in. Obviously the hotel management are really proud of the impression they give.... NOT. No staff behind bar and can be waiting ages no matter what time of day. My meal stated chips and got skinny fries which were only just warm. Onion rings were stone cold. Not once did I see staff member to come and enquire was meal ok. Perhaps they knew the answer would get. Hotel is very dated inside with dark doors and furniture in room the same looks like second hand out of an antique shop. Bathroom had a odd smell similar to drain smell and cleaning not good. See photos. AVOID....

I booked 3 rooms for a local family event however we wish we had stayed elsewhere. All rooms weren’t very clean, the room I stayed in (33) had mould in the windows, evidence of some mystery substance running down the walls above the bed and the shower leaked so the bathroom door had absorbed the water and was rotting away. The TV would turn on, but that’s it, that’s the only button on the remote that would work so you were stuck with the news. Everytime other guests used the water in their rooms the sink would make a loud noise which kept me away all night. The bathroom radiator was scalding hot with no way of turning them down which made the rooms feel extremely hot with the door open or freezing cold if you closed it. The staff need some lessons in customer service. With the exception of the waitress on the Saturday night 2nd and on the morning of the 3rd there was very positives. We arrived at the hotel before checkin was open and we enquired if we needed to book a table for dinner, we were told there was an event on so we could only eat in the bar which wasn’t a problem. What we were not advised is that they stop taking orders at 8pm sharp leaving us minutes to scramble to order… not that it will take you too long as the food choices are very limited. The food itself was ok but the breakfast should have been a lot warmer. My dad stayed in room 30 and had similar issues with his room. Overall we all couldn’t wait to leave. I would not recommend staying.

Wonderful views . Hearty full English Breakfast + Continental selection adequate Staff could have been a bit more welcoming. Wi-Fi connection intermittent (..possibly due to location)

We booked a “deluxe double room” last minute after a long flight, too tired to drive home and just needing a restful night. The room was freezing cold, radiator turned off and window open not ideal on a cold February evening! The window didn’t close properly and the radiator made a loud humming noise. The bed was really lumpy, towels extremely old and the room itself tired and far from “deluxe” We were disturbed by noise from the room below until I got up and complained at 4am to the night manager. The breakfast was surprisingly good but this is definitely a place to AVOID

I have stayed here many times generally without issue but this was shocking. Corridor stunk of marijuana residue, room like a fridge from 2am onwards on the coldest night of the year so far. Bar food awful - reheated food which was returned to be replaced with slop and tasteless replacements. Nobody to report issues to the following morning. Breakfast was was again reheated and inedible. Tried to contact to discuss, no response to calls and no email address.

peaceful retreat, just what we needed

We have stayed at the hotel numerous times in the last decade, when in the UK. Always cozy, comfortable and clean. Great views! Josh, the General Manager, displays excellent customer service skills. He was very helpful and understanding of a request beyond our control; and always seemed upbeat. Night staff were also very friendly and kind. Cheers! Jonathan
