Always enjoy my stay in this lovely old hotel. Very clean and comfortable and good value for money. Great location. Previous reviews have mentioned it’s a little tired which is true but they are currently refurbishing and decorating so it should be even better when finished.

This is not just a hotel, it is a Maritime Club, with special offers and support for Navel personnel... The building and rooms are currently undergoing refurbishment and I will hopefully be back to see it when it is finished. Wonderful staff, qwerky and delightful, great clean accessable room... I’ve just finished a three‑night stay at The Royal Maritime Hotel (arriving Friday 27 February, leaving Monday 2 March), and as this was my second visit, I’m pleased to report it was superb once again. I booked via hotels.com, and the total cost, £154.13 for three nights in a basic double with breakfast, is, frankly, an absolute bargain. Room 203 was clean, surprisingly spacious, and more modern than I expected. It faces Queen Street, which is busy, so you’ll hear some noise if the window’s open, but with it closed, it’s blissfully quiet. The bathroom was clean and perfectly adequate; not the most up‑to‑date in the building, perhaps, but the shower was powerful and faultless. The location is ideal for Wightlink if you’re heading to the Isle of Wight, just a five‑minute stroll, which was perfect for my family visit. There’s also a Co‑op directly opposite, which is handy for essentials. I had an evening meal in the hotel and went for the chicken skewers, smash burger, and chocolate brownie. All three were delicious, and the service from the waitress was excellent.

Tv was way too small up by the ceiling. Peeling wallpaper bed very old .corridors terrible should be closed off and not let rooms in the areas affected. area

The entrance to the hotel and reception is amazing and a credit to its name. The room was to a high standard and very clean. The breakfast was a 10/10 rating with the staff on hand for your needs.

Old room but it was clean. For the budget room type and price, couldn’t really fault it. Is it a new hotel? No. Is it a modern one? No. Was everyone welcoming? Yes. Did the Wi-Fi work? Brilliantly. Was it in a convenient location? Hugely.

Does what it says on the tin. Room to stay. Paid £60 b and b. Rooms do not reflect the pictures they are very tired and carpets are grubby. The bed was very old and uncomfortable However if you are just looking to get your head down. It is fine. I stayed one night. All basic amenities provided in the room, breakfast had a good choice. I couldn’t decide if the hotel was completely run down out the back or if it was being renovated. No one mentioned this. The library was nice and the reception area clean. I wouldn’t pick here if you are interested in comfort. Good location next to the dock.
