The Coal Exchange is a lovely old building which has been turned into a hotel with large bedrooms and bathrooms.
The bed was comfortable although there was some wear showing on the headboard/ wall behind the bed(room 143).
The bathroom had a large Jacuzzi bath and a rainfall shower. The toiletries provided smelt gorgeous!
There were two large windows looking out onto the road beside the hotel which was surprisingly quiet. Unfortunately, because the weather was extremely hot and there was no air conditioning the room was warm, especially overnight. There was a fan and we left the windows but it still was difficult to sleep.
Breakfast was good, with plenty of hot and cold choices on the self service buffet. The pain au chocolat and croissant were particularly good, far better than usual hotel standards and I enjoyed a gooseberry yoghurt and choice of cheese!
All the staff were helpful and we were able to park outside the hotel because parking is only paid between 8am and 6pm.
