This is the third time I've stayed here as a stop over for work purposes. Again friendly and welcoming staff, excellent food and service. And a peaceful night's sleep.

This is a loverly little place, i have used it twice now work trips and the rooms are comftable, staff are great and food is excellent. 5 Stars 👍

Room was nice and bright, comfy bed too which is always a bonus. Staff are very polite and helpful. Evening meal in the pub was very good.

Lovely clean room, nice and warm. The pub was VERY busy on the Saturday night we stayed, we booked a table and can’t fault the food and service, very pleased. Breakfast was very nice also. It’s our second stay here, first time bringing out dog, excellent stay

I’ve stayed here several times now when in Chelmsford for work. Lovely place, nice staff, rooms are fab and reasonably priced. A short drive to a park and ride into Chelmsford so perfect for me! Will definitely stay again and recommend!

The room was very clean with a mix of modern and traditional facilities. Nicely renovated bathroom. The staff in the pub were very friendly and the food was excellent. A great choice of local beers and the food was delicious. Love the large beer garden.

The compasses inn is a hidden gem. It is far from any main roads and has been voted one of the best pubs for many years. Dining is uncoventional in that you have to choos from many options from a blackboard (rather quaint). The staff are extremely freindly

Authentic, rural pub. Was very busy the eveningbwe stayed but the staff were very fruendly & efficient. Dinner was great, pub food extremely well cooked & delicious! We also enjoyed an excellent breakfast, cooked & served by a friendly & super efficient member of staff. A great pit-stop for us. Thank you to all at The Compasses!
