Clean and good location

Very helpful giving me a room to change in after arriving early. Lovely spacious and clean room.

Great service as usual, with special detail of having the room AC started in advanced in a 36° day. Attention to detail is always appreciated.

My wife and I stayed this Saturday and we loved the concept of the place. Staff were fantastic and the room was very nice indeed, clean and comfortable. Location was great and the bar and games downstairs were superb. The reasons I've marked it down one star are the following : 1) Music was very loud until Midnight ( DJ played some awesome tunes though ) so probably best for people who are planning to stay out late. 2) Fridge on the 1st floor was empty of water at 1am until we checked out. 3) No mat for shower tray which meant it was pretty slippery. Other than that, I can't fault the place and have recommended it to my older children, who will no doubt be able to stay up later than us oldies.

This place feels like an odd mix — some aspects feel like a hip boutique hotel while others seem a bit “budget.” There is no actual lobby or dedicated hotel staff in the evening, so you collect your key from the large bar on the ground floor. The rooms are nicely decorated and well appointed (eg, nice bathroom fixtures, Nespresso machine in room), though quite dark. Good location in historic city centre. Nice touches like a refrigerator on the corridor that has bottles of cold filtered water.

Really nice bedding and soft lovely thick towels. Great shower & quiet & secure enough Loss of point because of windowless room.

Spacious bedroom. Central location. Good coffee machine in the bedroom. No breakfasts, but plenty of places nearby.

Nice for an overnight stay . Water and milk available from fridge on floor for hot drinks. With coffee and tea in room. Comfy pillows and bed . Clean room with nice shower . Bar downstairs with friendly staff and games area. Would stay again if in visiting the area again. .

The room was very warm although comfortable Only issue was noise from other guests shouting and and slamming doors

First time staying at The Market House and very impressed. Staff friendly on arrival, room spacious and clean. The only slightly negative thing for me was that the room did not have a window which is my preference. I would stay here again.

One of the nicest hotels i have stayed in a while, room is modern, clean and spacious. nice touches with the bottled water, milk etc available from a fridge on 1st floor. Only criticism, there is no plug socket next to the mirror.

I had a great stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a very good catchment area so your not in the hustle and bustle but just around the corner from the shopping centre and train station. It is reasonably priced and great location for someone travelling on their own. I would recommend

Really liked everything! The decor, the staff, the cleanliness, the communications, the little extras - just fab!

I regularly work in Reading and when I get the chance, I will stay in the Market House. I’ve stayed in a few of the other Reading central hotels and this is my favourite for the price and comfort. Rooms are always really clean, showers are nice and hot and I get a good night’s sleep. Andreea the host is very welcoming too!
