La playa sin dudas es lo mejor de Catalonia. Yo venia de 2 noches en Viva Beach y note cosas superiores en Viva que en Catalonia. Por ejemplo la modalidad para el regimen all inclusive y la variedad de comida para mi sorpresa fue superior en viva que en Catalonia. La arquitectura de Catalonia es insuperable muy hermoso. Es pequeño pero bien atendido por el personal. La habitación que nos toco (no tuvimos q cambiar 1 vez xq el baño en la ducha no tenia puerta y era vidriado) en familia no nos servia eso. Pero las habitaciones podrian mejorarlas mucho mas son poco modernas. En gral Catalonia muy bien, quiza si no hubiera tenido las noxhes antes en Viva y no pudiese comparar mi calificación a Catalonia seria 10 pero creo q 8 esta bien

We have both our appreciation and our disappointment following our recent stay at Catalonia La Romana Bayahibe. This was our third visit to this resort, and we stayed for 8 nights. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and enjoyed our time there. We would especially like to thank Juan, the Dining Room Manager at the Taino Buffet/Restaurant, for his kindness and helpful attitude throughout our stay. His professionalism truly enhanced our experience. However, we were extremely disappointed with the behavior of one staff member, Ms. Itziar Ramirez from the Customer Service team. During an interaction involving our paperwork, she was rude, unprofessional, and unnecessarily confrontational. Rather than assisting us in resolving a simple issue related to our passport information, she escalated the situation by using intimidating language and even threatened to call security and the police. At no point did she attempt to de-escalate the situation or offer constructive support. Her attitude made us feel frustrated, uncomfortable, and ultimately unwelcome. Food was great, beach was beautiful. Resort is very clean and well maintained. The cleaning ladies were exceptional and cleaned our room every day. People that work at the restaurants, bar area and reception are very nice, but some of the security people are very, very rude. Man that works as a security at the gym was so mean to my son and husband and he was even swearing at them. Just a few people that work here speak english, and that can sometimes be a problem. Iven the guests spoke spanish, french, italian, but no english language. Adonis, the guy that works as a part of entertainment crew was incredible, so kind and with a smile on his face all the time.

Check-in took almost an hour, which is ridiculous (and there were no issues, just took forever). Everything else was great, and I enjoyed my stay

The property needed some work, the food and drinks weren’t good enough for the money spent. The upgrade we paid extra for wasn’t valuable. The room was comparable to a standard hotel room and many things needed fixing. None of the staff spoke English which made it difficult for us. Our son got food poisoning and we couldn’t drink the water. The positive thing was the beach/water were beautiful and the staff were very nice.

The staff in the restaurants and bars were not friendly or eager to service. I seat at one of the bars for over 20 minutes and no one came over to me. I don’t know if you’re short staffed.

Additionally, some of the rooms could use an update, as they feel a bit outdated compared to the overall resort's charm. Despite these minor inconveniences, the overall experience remains pleasant, especially if you're looking for a laid-back, beach-centered vacation.
