After check-in. We went out of hotel for dinner and we were told to leave our room key at front desk. When we returned to hotel at 12am the hotel was locked and we could not enter. We buzzed the door and knocked for 15 minutes. We had to drive to different hotel to stay the night. I would like full refund.

Once you understand that this is a rustic classical hotel with an Old Farmhouse feel you can relax and enjoy the experience , a modern trendy place this is not. It does have a fridge and kettle in the room , the hot water in the bathroom takes an age to arrive but is fine once it does. As mentioned in other reviews the floorboards creak and it was nessesary to leave the wardrobe door ajar to prevent it creaking when someone passes the room . Its rustic and charming in its own way.

The building is very old and shows lots of wear and tear

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Room was very comfortable and well appointed.

Very friendly service. Very accommodating for an English-only American. The room was warm and quiet. The restaurant was amazing. Good location and easy to get to.

My booking was changed to another hotel without prior notification. It put me further away from my destination and at great inconvenience. Reception would not assist with my heavy bag up the stairs, and did not offer to find someone who could. Heat in room did not get warm, so not at my preferred temperature.

Good place to stay comfortable room.

Spacious room with decent wi-fi. Only problem was shower. Plumbing was so bad it was impossible to shower as water came out everywhere except shower rose (room 3). Food in restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast

We were rebooked by the hotel into another hotel, which was pretty awful. I rated nearly everything average, as we didn't, unfortunately, actually stay there. The Monte Cristo reimbursed us the charge, which had already been made, but it was little compensation for a very unsatisfactory night's stay in the rebooked hotel (for which, incidentally, we had to pay parking - no compensation for that!).

This is a quintessential beauty just outside of Mons. Sporting a full courtyard to have an afternoon drink and read a book, or having the best meal of your life at L'Effet Beouf, the Monte Cristo is number 1 on my list of places to stay while on business or for pleasure in Mons. The rooms are simply stated, with views that will take you out of the city and into the country side of Belgium. If I could live there I would. The staff is professional and accommodating. Check in is very easy. Please stay here. You will not regret it.

Far from Mons city center. 15€ taxi each way. One day they forget to male the room, the bathroom was shaking, it looked like it was going to fall. I heard the noise from the next room

This hotel was perfect for our needs as it was less than 15 mins' drive from the centre of Mons with a comfortable room and bed and a large free off-road car park. The young man who welcomed us and served us drinks couldn’t have been more helpful. There is no lift, which was no problem for us, but might be a consideration for other visitors, and the bathroom toilet arrangement was a little restricted, but again no problem for us. There was food available, although we didn't need to eat there - it looked and smelt delicious, The hotel was very reasonably priced for its location. We would certainly stay there again.

Hotel is fine but there was no air conditioning which made some of the nights very difficult

No one to check me in despite arriving before check in closed. KSU was left out with a note. Toilet was broken and difficult to flush and no AC in room. When I left the lady on the desk didn’t speak English and couldn’t find my booking. I paid by credit card when I left but then was also charged on my card from hotels.com. Hotel were quick to apologise and refund one payment. Didn’t seem to be very organised. Location was ok and room was fine. AC was blasting in the hallway but nothing in the room which got very hot.

Pretty basic nice surroundings bed a little hard but ok for a 1 night stop off.

Comfortable, small hotel with clean rooms and a good restaurant. The hotel is on a busy road which made getting our difficult and there was nothing to do in the area.

The hotel it self was good but it is now bit dated and there was not hot water in the early morning and no one at hotel to ask about it and I had to checkout very early

Hotel provides satisfactory accomodation for the price. Staff speak little English and the breakfast buffet is a bit limited in choice.

Very good connection to the motorway network.. Rooms ok, breakfast was disappointing. Strangely we had to pay for dinner separate to the hotel.

Was booked at the last minute - same day. Confirmation was for a double room but ended up with twin singles. Arrived late from Brussels and found hotel very difficul to locate. Had to phone (manager?) several times for directions despite having a satnav. After 3rd call he was not amused and it was obvious. I speak fluent French and understood all he said reasonably well except for the bit where he forgot to say make a "U" turn after the lights!!
