Fauna Hotel is located at mid-hill level of Valparaiso and visit to historic buildings can be done in foot. The hotel also lies in restricted area where large vans are forbidden to enter. Passengers and luggages have to be dropped off the main road and there is a distance of 10 min walk to move between the hotel and drop off location. However, taxi and small vans can reach the hotel at closer range. But still there is a distance of about 30 metres to walk through. However, the hotel staff and friendly and helpful. The room and toilet are clean and reasonbly spacious. Restaurant is located at upper floor and has good overlooking view of the city and serves dinner and breakfast. Breakfast food is good though choice is rather limited. I reccommend the hotel for short stays of one or two days where visit to historical locations is the main purpose.

Beautiful hotel, with modern design, but remaining comfortable and eco friendly

The Fauna is in a great location with a nice rooftop restaurant. The room is pretty basic but comfortable and with everything you need. The hotel details say there is laundry but there isn't. Luckily, there is a great laundry service nearby that does same day service.

Lovely stay at a unique hotel. The staff was fantastic and very helpful. The restaurant had a variety of options and the food and drinks were delicious. The view of Valparaiso from the room and restaurant was great.

O restaurante e localização é o ponto alto. Poderia ter TV no quarto já que depois das 18:00 o bairro fica deserto, sentimos falta, de resto, é um bom hotel no Cerro Alegre.

Very clean and comfort

Such a cool place to stay - our dining experience outdoor at the rooftop was like no other - full moon - splendid views - the best food! Excellent!

As fotos não demonstram tão bem, mas o hotel é claro, limpo, organizado, com decoração rústica e toque moderno. Fomos muito bem atendidos e foi possível até deixar a mala antes do check in e depois do check out. O quarto estava super limpo e possui ótimo espaço. A limpeza do banheiro também impecável, cama confortável, toalhas macias, com shampoo, sabonete e condicinador, além de secador de cabelo. Realmente me surpreendeu em relação a algumas avaliações. Valparaíso é feita de muitos morros e o hotel ainda fica em uma boa localização considerando a estrutura do bairro. Dentro dele existe o máximo de 3 lances de escada, mas novamente, considerando o bairro, super tranquilo para ficar. Café da manhã com opções mais simples, mas acredito ser da região. Vista linda do andar do restaurante e possui ótimo comércio ao redor.

Great location and cool building. Reception could be a bit more helpful, possibly give some local tips like in other places, rather than just ‘hi’. The bathroom was a bit tired looking and the bed very squeaky. Unfortunately there was a plague of termites on our first evening. After an initial clean up that we did, we eventually had to get up on the night and get help from reception with bug spray (most helpful). We then needed to have the window closed and had to ask for a fan as there’s no a/c or way of ventilating the room without the window open. But it would have been better if reception had told us it was happening to make sure windows were shut and so on. We ended up with a room full of dead termites and shed wings which was pretty disgusting. Lastly, on check out the woman who took payment was extremely unfriendly, no smile, no ‘I hope you had a good stay, have a good day, thank you for staying with us’ which left a sour taste in the mouth. these things are so easy to remedy by just paying a bit more attention to details and making more of an effort.

My favorite place to stay when visiting Old Valparaiso. The hotel is well located and staff is friendly. Rooms are simple but comfy and quiet. And the restaurant is a great place to chill and enjoy the view.

Vue magnifique, beaucoup de resto, cafés,boutiques et galleries tout près. Le resto avec terrasse sur place est aussi excellent.
