We had a lovely stay in Kunming. The hotel receptionist was a very kind boy who welcomed us with a smile and despite having a language barrier was able to communicate to us the essentials. The manager was also very helpful who gave us all the important info through WeChat and also helped us find the right bus to the rice terraces for our next step. The hotel itself is very cosy, clean and well maintained. It’s extremely comfortable and central within the pedestrian zone of the town so you can walk around everywhere with ease. Call DiDi if you want to go beyond !!
This hotel is right in the centre of Kunming’s hubbub area. We were able to walk to most popular places. The service was superb, especially as the manager was very helpful in helping us to upgrade to a better room that suited our needs. Basic hotel, superb location and excellent service.
This is a wonderful hotel and the staff are very kind. The early 20th C modernist architecture has been lovingly respected and restored, and interiors are modernized without eye-sore. What a treasure! And a surprise from initial photos to see a twin building facing the hotel building. The historical area around has amazing old wood buildings, with lattice windows and carved shutters, all lit up at night, with myriad food places and shops and hundreds of people milling around, dancing, taking photos is fancy outfits, and more. The only thing that would have added to hear perfection at the Moon & Chalice would be a coffee and breakfast corner in the lobby or the first floor.
