The Grand hotel has everything you could want in a hotel. The internet was fast and they have computers set up in the lobby of each floor. The gym is small but it has what you need for a good workout. There’s even a steam room/sauna. The rooftop has a game and seating area where you can get a great view of the city. The bar is cozy and inviting. You can sit at the bar, sit at a table, or sit in a booth. The restaurant serves excellent, 5-star quality food at reasonable prices. The breakfast is free and has a huge variety of foods to choose from. The coffee shop is better than Starbucks… ‘nuff said!! The rooms are very nice and clean. No funky smell when you walk in (like so many other hotel rooms). The beds are incredibly comfy. The showers have hot water and good pressure. There is a beautiful church you can tour right behind the hotel but you have to walk a city block to get to it. There is also a park full of iguanas across the street from the church. You can feed them, pet them, and take pictures with them.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely return as well as recommend the Grand Hotel to others hoping to enjoy a relaxing getaway!
The Grand hotel, staff, restaurant, bar, and coffee shop are all 5 star! I love this place. Everyone was so nice and treated us like VIP’s. Jeremy and Pamela, at the front desk, speak very good English and helped us get checked in as well as get a taxi to take us to the shuttle to get to Cuenca. Daniela served us in the restaurant. She was very attentive and always served us with a smile. Estairon came to our room with a cart and loaded all of our luggage from room to taxi when it was time to leave. We had a 30-minute massage while we were there and it was one of the best I’ve ever had.
The pool is beautiful, surrounded by greenery and a few man-made waterfalls for the perfect, peaceful environment. It can be viewed from many of the rooms, as well as the restaurant.
The rooms are nicely decorated and included complimentary bottled water. The a/c was ice cold and the showers were good and hot. Great water pressure, too.
The bartender makes a really good margarita so do stop in and try one.
The coffee shop serves an excellent cappuccino and there are plenty of baked goods waiting to be eaten. There are cakes, cookies, truffles, and more!
The free breakfast was top notch, offering a mixture of Ecuadorian and American cuisine. They had ceviche, local fruits, yogurt, granola, ham, cheese, potatoes, eggs, pancakes, sausage, a variety of breads, juice, coffee, and much more I can’t remember.
I highly recommend the Grand Hotel and will stay here whenever I’m in Guayaquil.
