service was excellent, the breakfast buffet was outstanding, and the dining room staff was knowledgeable and very helpful, the pool was clean as was the complete complex. rooms are spacious and cleaning standards are high. For an Atacames stay I would recommend 100%.

The El Marques is considered the nicest hotel in Atacames. We had several issues, and would not stay there again. First of all, when we checked in, the receptionist said the reservation was for 1 person, when it had been made for 2. I had a copy of my receipt, and after nearly 20 minutes, the correct information was confirmed. This is, of course, a nightmare for travelers. Then we were taken to the room, and it do not have a view of the sea, as promised online. Actually, if one stood in the corner of the window, and leaned slightly, a small view of the ocean was barely visible. Is that what they mean by Ocean view? I requested a change of room, but the rate for a room with a genuine view of the sea was almost double the nightly rate. When I complained, the reduced the rate slightly, but still too much for my budget. This gave me a sour taste. The staff was very nice. When we checked in the bell boy brought us two chairs so we could sit comfortably on the common patio. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Often, workers at the Main Desk or the Spa were not even present during regular hours. A nice enough hotel, but not worth the premium price.

They just would not change my reservation of two nights to one night only despite Orbitz helping me with the hotel. Ended up paying about $250 for one night. The a/c was too noisy and had to be turned off to be able to sleep. There were lots of discos and restaurants in between the hotel and the beach. Could not get back in when we returned at 10:30 PM. The sign at the garage entrance was misleading and the front of the hotel had no communication system. Finally the security guard let us in after I called the hotel twice. We were told there was a side entrance. The buffet breakfast was great. No, I would not recommend this hotel. Orbitz, by the way has to improve its platform. I wanted a hotel in ESMERALDAS CITY and ended up in Atacames. Disgraceful

The best hotel in Atacames across the street from the beach. Very good, great breakfast, comfy beds, and air conditioning. Highly highly recommended, and there is a 24hr security guard to guard the front as sometimes the walk there can be a little dodgy. Take the mini taxi for 1.50 from center city with your luggage to get to this place, otherwise in daytime it is safe enough to walk over as a police station kiosk is across the corner from its parking lot.

Muy hospitalarios, no cambien. Mi familia y yo nos sentimos en casa, siempre un atento saludo y una sonrisa amable, esto demuestra que disfrutan su trabajo y lo cual valoramos mucho. Esperamos retornar pronto, no cambien!!

Tuve muchos problemas para abrir la habitacion. Me vi obligado a bajar a pedir ayuda muchas veces. La tarjeta no funcionaba... unicamente la tarjeta master abria la cerradura Finalmente me entregaron una llave de metal para poder ingresar a la habitacion
