Friendly, helpful staff. Food good, but rooms a little tired and beds quite hard. Need to remember that it is primarily a pub. Good base to explore local area

Staff were very accommodating, helpful with a lot of useful local knowledge. Facilities in the room were fantastic and loved the large bath!!

It is a beautiful place with a wonderful restaurant. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The ONLY issue we had is, being in our 60s, the lack of hand rails in the bathroom. The shower is an in-bath type and we would really have found a couple of handrails very useful. One as you get in and one next to the shower. Other than that it was a perfect stay.

A comfortable one night stay. Staff were great. Food was lovely. Bed was super comfy and everything was clean. A welcome letter on the bed was a nice touch; it detailed that the hotel windows could not be changed owing to conservation planning rules. However, rust/ black mould in bathroom could perhaps be tackled, but this is a minor detail. Overall, we found the room to be great. The addition of food treats - peanuts and jelly beans- was a thoughtful inclusion. Free car parking too behind the hotel.

stayed here for 3 nights. staff and accomodation were excellent. room very clean. food and drink excellent ( beer was too good!). Easy to get to the village centre and plenty of parking. Overall stay excellent. Will be back!

Great hotel at the right price, great staff and service, breakfasts are very good and the restaurant serves delicious food definitely use it again.

The personnel was very kind. We arrived late and they had however given a meal !

Second time of staying here. So that says a lot! All staff very friendly and food was delicious, although quite expensive. Beautiful breakfast with a good choice. Room large, bed comfy, all very clean and little extras, and water in the room were a nice touch! Definitely recommend. Although above a pub no noise whatsoever! Plenty of free parking and the entrance to the caves very close by.

The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The location is brilliant and with parking included always handy in a tourist attraction village. Earplugs are supplied due to road noise even though we had no trouble with noise. Breakfast was very tasty and well portioned. Will definitely stay again.

Stayed just for a night. Overall I loved the old charm of the pub and the lovely big fireplaces, the food was nice, the staff were wonderful, but it wasn’t the best hotel room. - The “double/king bed” is 2 singles pushed together which is my pet hate. - cheap furniture needs upgrading. - The bathroom really needs an update. There was paint chippings from the walls all over the floor & in the shower cubical. The shower leaked & dripped all night. The bedding & textiles all felt thin & cheap. The cushions & bedspread really need washing or ideally replacing. They do warn you the windows are cold as it’s an old building which is fine but, ours was actually smashed in 2 places so was really drafty. They could maybe do with some shutters or at least proper lined blackout thermal curtains & a blind. Just a few upgrades would really make such a difference.

Lovely hotel in easy walking distance of Cheddar Gorge and the Caves. Staff were fantastic, friendly, cheerful and very helpful. Food was excellent, ate once in the restaurant and once in the bar , service was first class. Would definitely recommend.

As well as having the best breakfast we have ever had, we had great sleep in their comfortable room. Everything we needed (and more, was provided and the staff were great. We will return soon!
