We were given a full tour of the boat we had reserved with instructions on how to start the engine to make hot water, starting the furnace, etc. but the number of beds had unexpectedly changed (Cru Houseboats was under new ownership since we booked our stay) and the requirements for operating the boat did not appeal to us so we did not stay there. The staff were extremely helpful in finding a hotel late in the day that was close by.
Brilliant alternative to an expensive hotel in Bath. The children loved it and only 15 mins walk to the centre of Bath. Very friendly staff. Keith is a legend!
Staying on the houseboat was certainly the unique experience that we'd hoped it to be. We arrived later than planned but a quick call to the host helped us navigate to the parking area and gave us directions to meet him at the boat.
The boat itself was freshly made up for our group, it was toasty warm with central heating and a log burner. 2 single sofa beds in the lounge were a great solution. Coffee, tea, and breakfast items were provided in the fridge, and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook a hearty breakfast before exploring the city.
Bath itself is an easy 10-15 minute walk from accommodation. It is a slightly uphill journey back but nothing too taxing. We stayed during Storm Darragh so it was a little noisy as night but the boat was so much more stable than we expected. It was a great little stay, and we'd hope to visit again when there's no extreme weather warnings!!
