We have stayed at the Imperial several times visiting family. Never been disappointed. All effort made to make us feel welcome and receive the high standard of service Thank you.

The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was fantastic. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Loved the canapes with our pre-dinner drinks!

Our room was faultless and this echoed the hotel in every way Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff The breakfast and evening meal was wonderful and catered for all tastes Thank you for an amazing stay will be back soon

Staff excellent

I really like this hotel, and would suggest it to anyone visiting from overseas as a good example of how things used to be done. The building is older and has all the quirkiness that comes with that. The room I had was reasonably spacious and well appointed, very clean, nothing to really pick fault with. The common areas downstairs are traditionally decorated, well maintained, and display the history of the location well. They are warm and inviting. The real thing about this hotel is that the service element is still there, from reception, to the bar and into the restaurant. Staff are plentiful and attentive, and it all adds up to a very civilised experience. I ate in the restaurant and the food was good, with a decent wine list. The room price is reasonable and the restaurant price is possibly at the high end, but the quality is there and the service and overall vibe made it worthwhile for me. It's all a little posh, but in no way stuck up.

Lovely hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent with loads of choice. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

The Imperial was ;lovely, well run hotel with excellent staff and food with one exception.namely the bread used for toast and sandwiches is very thick (approx 8mms) and not in keeping with a hotel of this quality. It should be replaced

The food was expensive for what it was my husband had a burger & fries which was £24 & £3 for a shaving of cheese. I had Salmon £24 but must say was lovely..Breakfast was very nice & well serverd…everything else was good..

Nice hotel. Staff care a lot and are very attentive - some good banter and nice to see some personalities. Breakfast was a little expensive but very robust portions. Will definitely be on the short-list for my next stay.

Hotel was superb - Barnstaple itself was a disappointment with run down town centre.

The hotel is ideally placed to access the town centre. Room was newly decorated so in excellent condition although the bathroom is a little small. Would have expected more fresh fruit for breakfast, most fruit was tinned and the juices are from concentrate. Overall the hotel and dining is expenive for what is provided.

I have not stayed here for years and was surprised to see that its still a Brend Hotel ( family hotel). I went for breakfast and it was a traditional waiter service breakfast eg you are shown to a table, another waiter takes your order, you choose the items you want and its freshly cooked ( no food sitting under a heated light)

Bed mites made for a sleepless night. We did change rooms but reception staff showed little interest in our concerns!!

The bathroom was a hotbox and if I wanted two single beds pushed together I'll ask for it, terrible night's sleep, no way on earth I'd stay here again
