Lovely Inn in a quiet village. Our stay was even quieter due to the Horse Fair in Appleby meaning the Inn was only open to residents. The inn clearly loves having dogs to stay so if you don’t like that, think carefully.
Food was well prepared and the homemade steak pie was definitely on the large side!
Bedroom was comfortable with all modern facilities.

All good, nice clean room, good selection of beers and wine, decent area outside if weather permits, and a very enjoyable meal in the evening.
The village itself is very quiet, but would certainly recommend if looking for an overnight stay to break up a journey north or south.

Constant clicking from the radiators throughout the night even though they were on 0. I changed it to 3 and still clicking. Woke me up at 3am. Had to put background noise on to drown it out.
Milk available but out of date.

Excellent atmosphere- very friendly towards dog- was very wet when we got there but there was a dog towel in hallway and dog bed in the room . Room very clean and unfussy. Hotel itself has a lovely comfortable cosy feel about it. Staff very attentive and food v good too! Would recommend!

We had a pleasant overnight stay on our way home from Scotland. The room was fine,very clean and well presented. There was no TV but we didn't need it.
The bathroom had an easy access walk-in shower which was good for anyone with disabilities. However, we believe that all the rooms were accessed by a short but steep flight of stairs which were not easy for a disabled customer.
Dinner was very good from a reasonably good menu.

Excellent stay. Surprised it was only 2 and a half star. Room was excellent and clean. All staff were so nice but a special shout out to Lauren (I hope I spelt that right) who was on her feet working and tidying from late at night and up working first thing in the morning. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and was a very nice lady to talk to always making sure we were settled and happy, and we only stayed for one night sadly. We will definitely come back soon.
