Cosy, warm, lovely atmosphere

Returned to the Stag again for a business trip. Once again all the staff were fantastic. Big thanks to Phillipe, Matt, Scarlett and Laura for making me feel so welcome again.

Great little hotel in a lovely location. All the staff are super friendly and the food is excellent. Rooms are great (some low ceilings but I am 6'6" so used to that lol) Great hotel and pub/restaurant.

Our limited time at the Stag on the River was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Matt made a great impression and went out of his way to point out a hidden gem trail to the elevated farmland. Wish we had more time to stay longer.

Friendly staff and great location next to the river

Highly recommend this place for a stay and dinner. Excellent service, great food. Friendly staff. Lovely location. Good value for money.

Fabulous location. Evening meal excellent...breakfast left a bit to be desired...service poor. BUT...the host took the cost of breakfast off the bill without being asked. She recognised the issues before i raised them.....so 10/10 for that!

We had a great stay. The room was small but perfectly fine for what we needed. Very cute and English. The breakfast was great! We loved it. And we also had dinner there a couple nights and the food was good. I needed WiFi as I had to work on the morning - but the Connection was really poor.. this would be the only downside for me

Stayed on a hot summer evening. The room was very small and due to the heat, very uncomfortable. The staff were pleasant and efficient, but the room and conditions were just too much. Didn’t stay the night left at 11pm.

Truly a gem of a place to stay . We had wedding reception to attend at the stag so booked two days . The management and staff were so professional which put them up with five star status. The pub restaurant was alway fully book a reflection of how good the food is . I gem of a place and will definitely return .

Everything was great, two very minor things. The radiator in the bathroom was emitting more heat than a nuclear power ststion, could do with truning down a tad. Was actually to hot to stay in the bathroom with the door closed. And the broadband was very slow. But in the grand scheme of things, nothing to worry about.

Lovely stay, excellent breakfast

Attractive property, spacious dining area. Difficult to find parking on arrival 3pm. Room noisy from kitchen fans until 11pm then started again at 7:30am. Unpleasant sewerage smell from the bathroom and into the bedroom.

Lovely place, friendly staff, well located for exploring nearby attractions. Cosy room above the pub. Bathroom is very clean and modern. Very quiet at night. The pub's restaurant serves good food, though I believe the pub is the only dining option in the village. Would stay here again next time I'm in the area.

Exceptionally clean room. Small but had everything you would expect. Good breakfast, attentive service.

Really nice place to stay

If you haven't tried this reasonably priced hotel/ restaurant you are in for a treat. Better than average restaurant and excllent service on a busy Saturday night. The rooms may be small but have great character. Last - but not least - check out the Bar Snacks and nibbles menu for an afternoon treat.

Lovely old pub and B&B in a beautiful location. Enjoyed a delicious dinner followed by a gourmet breakfast the next day. My room was clean and spacious with a nice walk in shower. Tea, coffee and biscuits were in the room and I had a lovely view of mature trees and rolling hills.

The bathroom and the bed where small but the stay at the Tag on the River was perfect.
