A beautiful place Close to university Great to have pantry inside the room, but no cleaning items for cleaning up the cookset.

Nice old building. Rooms need a bit of attention. Shower in our room was awful. Couldn’t turn controls as too stiff, water was either cold or boiling. Shower leaked too.

Room heating was broken and I had to deal with fan heater for 2 days. Room wasn’t up to the mark. The hotel review gave me complete incorrect picture.

Beautiful spacious room and a huge bathroom - a lovely 30 minute walk into York.

Great location with bus into the city outside

NOT RECOMMENDED. Cleaning of the bathroom can only be described as systematically neglected. For a "premium" room to be carpeted with strips of stair carpet stitched together is comical. On top of that, having to pay to park at the property is money grabbing. Our room was above a function room where a wedding was taking place, a fact that was only advised to us three days before our visit with no option to move to an alternative room. Spend your money somewhere else.

The staff was very welcoming on our arrival and very helpful. Our room was 49. The very clean and the bed was very comfortable then only issue was the fan in bathroom didn’t go off once the light had been turned off so all night the fan was low back ground noise. But everything else was lovely and breakfast the next morning was amazing and plenty off food to eat. Would definitely stay again and recommend to family /friends.

My room was comfortable and clean, with everything I needed. The bedroom was not huge, but the bathroom was. The four-poster bed was very comfy, and there was just enough space to unpack my things and put them away. The bathroom had lots of floor space, a good shower over the bath, and a large mirror. One downside was that there was no view to speak of, one window looks out over a flat roof and the other looks at a wall. Another downside is that parking and breakfast are charged extra to the room. However, the rest of the hotel had comfortable space to sit, both outside and inside. Also, the hotel is on a main road (not thst I noticed from inside) so it is easy to get to, drive from, and is on a frequent bus route. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I saw the staff help with luggage and noticed that there is a clothes mending service too. I would happily stay again.

The hotel was ok, quite a small entrance , lots of stairs,there's no lift, no good if you have a problem using stairs. You can park the car on.the main road, outside the hotel for free. No air-conditioning, so its quite hot. You have a small fan. Our room look reall old. You have a quite choice for breakfast.

Old time decor

Charged me £15 for parking even though I’d already paid it. They then refunded the charge. So I checked out in the morning and agreed that everything was paid. They then charged me another £15, AFTER I had left the premises. This time was an unauthorised payment taken from my account, without permission. After phoning them and asking WHY, they said that it was a mistake, and will refund the money they took. I’m still waiting

Thank you room was lovely and clean and comfortable and breakfast was yummy was so full definitely worth it. Staff was very helpful and there was good access to transport links.

A comfortable and cosy hotel in a quiet part of York with free on street parking, an excellent pub over the road and on an easy bus route into the city.

Old hotel so the rooms show it, however slept well. Downstairs is lovely.Felt the receptionist could be a bit more friendly and welcoming. £30 for car parking felt too much, asked for it immediately. Thonk on street is free. Didn't have breakfast, had thought we booked B&B but informed room only strangely another couple said the same. Bar staff were lovely. Had lunch which was nice. 25 minutes walk into town.

Lovely little old traditional hotel. Nice breakfast. Nice hotel bar. Excellent secure parking. Very convenient for the University.

Had a fantastic stay here. The staff were excellent. Only gripe I would say is that the room was sweltering, with no fan or Aircon. Would definitely stay again though.
