Lovely place to stop on our big drive. It’s a golf club but had lots to do padel courts/ tennis…we went on a lovely cycle ride to some lakes and saw otters. The swimming pool is really nice and refreshing and rooms very comfortable. The restaurant is good but service very slow and they forgot my daughters meal at supper….and at breakfast I had to wait 30 mins to find any staff to order a coffee. Apart from that the front desk were very helpful.
Domaine du Gouverneur was a very beautiful and unique hotel. We went as a young family of 4 combining business and leisure, and really loved it! Staff were so very friendly, particularly those at the La Table restaurant, truly very kind and attentive.
The family room itself was really lovely. The air con was amazing, the beds were super comfy and spacious, and the hot tub was incredible! It had 3 downsides. First accessing the room with luggage and two young kids was through a set of steep metal stairs at the back of the property which isn't ideal. Secondly, the room had 1 toilet to share across the whole family. Thirdly, the toilet was separate to the washroom which isn't great for hygiene or cleanliness, particularly with kids!! Not sure if all their family rooms are like that though.
The swimming pool was really lovely, accessed by guests only and certain golf users by request I think. The facilities around the pool were also great, e.g. toilets, towels, refreshing summer drinks ...etc., the kids really loved it! One of the kids forgot their goggles for the pool, but the hotel didn't have any for us to buy, so I would say that's something that they can think about for the future, as the pool is incredibly popular.
We would have liked more food options for the kids at the only restaurant there, but to be honest, the service was incredible!
Would certainly stay there again, but maybe not the same room...
