Definitely NOT 5 star and definitely NOT luxury.
The only thing 5 star was the price we paid to stay (and leave early forfeiting paid for accomodation -considered abetter option than a dud holiday). I would say it is a 3 star guest house/ b&b, at best. The room was dated, old, poor condition, noticeably moldy and smelt, (yes I have stayed in tropical locations before - this was different). We all got itchy throats and coughed all night and I was worried about my asthmatic daughter. Towels, toilet paper felt consistently damp, despite AC.
Private pool looked grimy - I didn’t want to swim in it. Communal pool, whilst lovely outlook to jungle was small (like a home plunge pool) stuck on the side of the breakfast bar area - not somewhere you’d want to hang out at.
Not a pleasant vibe or atmosphere. Went for dinner at 7pm, had to wander round for 10 minutes trying to find anyone to see if it was open.
Solid 25-30 minute drive into Ubud. No hotel shuttle.
Rural Bali setting - but not particularly picturesque - down a shared driveway with local houses & roosters crowing; nor private or remote.
Rarely do I feel compelled to write such a comprehensive and disparaging review but feel utterly ripped off such a disappointment given all the beautiful and charming accomodation options (across all budgets/ property classes) in Ubud. Struggle to believe the favourable reviews (a factor in choosing this) are “arm’s length, paying guests”. And the online photos are extremely flattering.
