Everything was fantastic!

The hotel has its own private beach, which was so convenient and relaxing. We enjoyed it every day. Be prepared to walk at least 20 minutes into town on a hill. Also budget for taxi transportation on the days you don’t want to walk back up the hill. Overall, the hotel is quite lovely and all of the food and drinks that we had were delicious. The communication with the staff was excellent.

Great location and customer seevice

Hello, We absolutely loved the area and thought the hotel itself was gorgeous and very clean. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by an ongoing issue that made it impossible to sleep. From the moment we arrived, we heard very loud and consistent banging noises coming from the walls, which we believe were from the pipes. We reported it to the front desk, who did come to our room and confirmed they also heard the noise. We both agreed this was not coming from another resident, and this did seem to be from the pipes. However, they explained that maintenance was unavailable until the following day and nothing could be done in the meantime. While the staff mentioned this was something they had never encountered before, the fact remained that we were left in a room where restful sleep was impossible. This was extremely disappointing, especially given how beautiful and otherwise enjoyable the property was. Because the issue was unresolved during our stay and significantly impacted our ability to use the room as intended, we kindly request a refund through Expedia for this reservation.

I thought this place was great! private beach with elevator to the bottom, food was good, service always friendly, close enough to walk into the action of downtown but far enough not to get hassled by it. Top of the hill views can't hardly be beat. Parking is somewhat limited so don't go thinking your big family reunion is all going to swing Escalades into the parking lot.

The stay was good. The view in the dining area where breakfast was served was amazing. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Different types of eggs - hard boiled, fried, scrambled. The pastries were amazing. They had this croissant with a custard filling that makes my mouth water while writing. Our room did not have an ocean view which I understand would’ve have cost more and most of the reviews suggested getting. Our room did have a large private balcony which was convenient for drying laundry. Now for the negatives- the main annoyance was that the AC (air conditioning) only worked when the room key (like a credit card) was in the slot, which meant that if we were away all day, the room was quite warm when we returned and then it took hours to cool down. Now I understand the rationale for not using electricity when no one is there but the hotel had the AC blasting in the hallway continuously which to me would seem to negate the cost saving to keep it off in the guests’ rooms. On this trip, we stayed in several hotels (Venice, Rome) where the AC was on in the room continuously and not on in the hallway. We really appreciated a cool comfortable room after being in the heat - Sorrento was only about 26 C (80 F) but the humidity was 76%; Rome was 37 C or 100 F. The other annoyance was the sit down shower - it was a bathtub with a hand wand for the shower. It did have good water pressure but sitting taking a shower was weird.

We loved La Tonnarella and plan to return. The staff was kind and helpful. The restaurant, beach, and the view were incredible.

A nice little quiet boutique hotel that’s an easy 15 minute walk to the city center. Lovely views and lovely rooms!!

The views, the room, the balcony, the breakfast & the staff were all wonderful. This was a great quiet place for us to stay in Sorrento and take a tour to Amalfi, Positano, & Ravello

The outlets in the room were not in convenient location. Room was otherwise lively with great view. A bit noisy - our room might have been under kitchen?

The view from the hotel is breath taking

My daughter and I stayed at the Hotel La Tonnarella while visiting southern Italy. We made this our home base while making some day trips. We had a wonderful experience. Hotel was lovely, clean and staff was welcoming. Views were amazing! I would definitely recommend and stay here again!
