Great little machina on an unbeatable location. You literally bump into the Yasaka pagoda when you go out of the house. In a quiet pedestrian only side alley in Ninezaka. Might be difficult to bring in your luggage but the rental company does it for you! Full of character and with many original features preserved, you get a good taste of old Kyoto living here. All the amenities are here. Washer with dryer is a lifesaver, the deep round Japanese tub has a window to your private lit garden. Very convenient to the whole of Gion, Pontocho, Kamo River restaurants and many temples. Kiyomizudera is a walking distance, so you can go early in the morning before the crowds. Great management company too with many great machiyas. We stayed in 2 and both were outstanding.

This place is stunningly cool. And location! Every time you walk back home, you’ll be passing people taking photos because the little walkway headed to your machiya is right by the Hokanji pagoda. We absolutely loved our stay here
