Such a conveniently located hotel across from Sendai station. The sauna and hot tub plus free beer was a nice way to relax in the afternoon too. Rooms were great and roomy. Overall perfect location and great value for money.

A beautiful property right near the station, parvovirus, and a large shopping center.

This property is super convenient. It is right in front of the Sendai Station and there was shopping and restaurants as soon as we stepped outside the hotel door. The staff was friendly and the rooms were comfy.

The pillows were so stinky, and also pajamas were stinky

Wonderful old world styling. Staff spoke English making check in easy. Breakfast buffet had both western & Japanese food. Very near train station. Nice western style bathroom with full size tub.

Front Desk Staff, Ms.Saito, is amazing for her courtesy and kindness thinking about the guests. I want to recommend all of travelers to stay this property.

Hot spring with a free beer and popsicles was a nice plus—across the street from the main station so super handy.

It’s luxury European style hotel. Near shop and food street. JR Sendai Station is 400-500 m to hotel. Nice stay.

This is a lovely hotel and so beautiful. My family and I loved the decorations. The room had everything we needed. We had dinner at the Japanese restaurant on the 6th floor and it was easily the most beautiful multi course meal I've had, maybe ever! When we checked out we had 2 hours until our train and they have a luggage room and were happy to watch our bags for an hour or so. We didn't try the onsen, I have large tattoos. The bathtub in the room is both deep and long, though. This hotel is by both the Sendai Station and mall with lots of eating and shopping opportunities. I definitely recommend this place to impress.

Two things stood out for us at Hotel Monterey. It was a classic circa 1920s property with the elegance of Japan married to European aesthetic charm. The Japanese breakfast was outstanding— you choose from three strains of Miyagi rice from which you got your choice of filling for your onigiri (rice balls) wrapped in nori. The breakfast featured a kaizen box full of sashimi, braised fish and assorted vegetables and Japanese pickles. The Monterey has a luxurious Japanese ofuro (public bath and sauna), with a post-bath lounge complete with a complimentary beer!

I'm not usually picky about hotels but my recommendation would be to avoid this one unless necessary. The location is central in the heart of downtown Sendai. Right across the street from Sendai station. Close to malls, shopping streets and food options. The hotel staff were nice. No complaints. The room itself was substandard. Top issue was the temperature. It was extremely hot all the time even when we turned down the thermostat or turned it off. We asked for help in case we were all is reading the gauge but were told that there is nothing that could be done. Even with the window cracked open the heat remained and this was during the chilliness of November. For a triple room, it was tiny. It was difficult to move around in and there was barely any room to hang jackets let alone used towels. I didn't get to use the hot spring bath on the top level or anybody the three restaurants.
