From the time you arrive, you are made to feel very welcome, you park at the top and you walk down to the lodge. You are greeted wirh an extraordinary place. Sea Eagles swoop down and fish in front of your eyes, birds everywhere, a birdwatching paradise. We had lunch overlooking the salt water lake mesmerised, binoculars fixed. Lunch was 4 course of delicious freshly prepared food. After lunch our guide, Wilson took us on a walk/hike around the crater and beyond. We saw many birds and animals close up. It was magical, and his knowledge was encyclopedic. Our dinner that night was again delicious and we enjoyed chatting to Peter who runs the bar and restaurant. I can thoroughly recommend this place, wish we could have stayed anothe night.
Crate Lake was much more than I imagined it would be. The tranquility of the lake meant relaxation was at maximum as soon as we arrived. There was not mosquitos due to the alkaline nature of the lake so nothing to worry about apart from drinking in nature, fresh air and serenity.
Staff were so welcoming and accommodated requests readily and happily.
There are many steps to get to the camp but this would only be an issue if you had someone with a disability or was not very able physically.
