This property has a very strict rule about breakfast and that is: YOU CAN HAVE IT ANYTIME :) . I find that very refreshing considering most of the times I miss free breakfast when I travel because I am not an early riser. Riad Porte Royal was my home away from home. The staff looks after you and you will also be very well fed.
We stayed for 3 nights here and could not fault it. The riad is absolutely beautiful, comfortable beds, good shower with lots of hot water, lovely breakfast and great helpful and friendly staff. We loved it and would definitely return.
Found RPR through a referral in a travel blog. Getting there was a bit tricky being escorted through the twisty little alleyways. But once we entered it took our breathe away! Wow, what a wonderfully romantic courtyard with its little lounge rooms and beautifully sculptured architectural details! I sat down to play the guitar in one of those lounges while they served us mint tea and carefully walked us through the checkin and orientation to the riad and the medina.
And we can't say enough about Lahcen and Adam -- what incredible hospitality! Willing to wake up at wee hours of the morning to make us breakfast so we can get on an early daytrip, escorting us to a location far away so we didn't get lost in the medina maze, lugging our huge suitcases up and down those narrow staircase and through the medina cobblestone alleys, and on and on. They were simply amazing hosts and we miss them!
They gave us the "little house" room which has its own dedicated stairway and detached bathroom. We believe this is the biggest room in the riad, it was so beautiful and romantic!
We tried breakfast in the courtyard, in the 2nd floor lounge, and on the rooftop -- all great and just depended on how cold it was each morning.
Wish we could've stayed longer but alas all good things must come to an end. The memories of our stay at this riad however, will last forever!
